Half a billion and counting: MrBeast makes YouTube history
MrBeast (27) becomes the first individual creator ever to reach 500 million subscribers on the platform.

YouTube has a new record holder. MrBeast, the creator behind some of the platform’s most-watched videos, officially surpassed 500 million subscribers on June 12, 2026, becoming the first individual in YouTube’s history to reach the landmark figure.
The milestone was marked with a livestream on his channel, drawing over 600,000 concurrent viewers. During the broadcast, Donaldson reflected on his unlikely rise—from a kid who couldn’t afford recording equipment to the most-subscribed creator on the planet. “I really shouldn’t be where I am today”, he told fans. “It doesn’t make sense that I have 500 million subscribers.”

Donaldson first became the most-subscribed individual YouTuber in November 2022, overtaking PewDiePie. He then surpassed T-Series to become the most-subscribed channel of any kind in June 2024. His audience is now larger than the population of most countries—and with no serious competitor within hundreds of millions of subscribers, the gap continues to grow.
The achievement cements MrBeast’s status not just as a content creator, but as one of the most powerful media brands in the world.
