Can we have a large order of boundaries, please?
Detroit’s finest, Kash Doll, shared the official video for ‘I’m the Prize’, starring fellow rapper-actor Method Man as her trifling love interest. From the moment he walks into their home, he digs into her with an unwarranted attitude. Without a blasted salutation, his verse boasts about being the prize. He adds that if she doesn’t like it, she should start a relationship with another man (he seems to know) with a regular paying job.
Next, the emotionally distant man in a tailored suit critiques her flowy leopard-print outfit. Eventhough, she is in the comfort of their home, he slams her for not dressing like “a child of God”.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Kash Doll—real name Arkeisha Antoinette Knight—told the publication, “When I was making it, I seen Method Man the whole time. It was like, I have to have him. I have to have him”.
Star power aside, Kash Doll wanted to shine a light on manipulative, toxic relationships among rich and famous people. They have problems too, and they don’t have life figured out. According to the article, the ‘Big 1/Fawk Em’ rapper believes “a relationship should never be about one person holding all the power.”
As she records more music and promises to be more vulnerable in her songs, “she hopes her candour will help listeners recognise their own experiences in her songs, particularly women who have found themselves in relationships where financial security comes at the expense of emotional well-being.”
Check out the music video featuring vocals by Ebony Riley to see how she holds her own alongside her childhood crush. It is currently trending at #9 on YouTube’s Trending Chart.
