Witness Yung Miami’s gorgeous solo rise in ‘F You’

“Went and made some millions for the pain and the sufferings”. You wish she lied.

Two days shy of a week, Yung Miami gifted her fans with the curated treatment for ‘F You’. In the monochromatic visual, the star rapper addresses people who talk negatively about her to double down on who she currently is. Upon hearing the song, Cam’ron’s ‘Fuck You’ leaps to mind—which sampled Millie Jackson’s 1979 single ‘Phuck You’. Never missing a moment to promote her products, her ‘Red Cup Typa Nite’ merchandise makes a cameo. The it-girl’s highly anticipated album ‘Watch Dis’ hits the market on October 23.

As a longtime fan of women in music, I encourage you to support the globally recognised Hip-Hop release. For context, our girl was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She grew up in Opa-Locka and is the biggest name out of there. Let’s honour that and how hard she’s worked to maintain this life.

Watching Yung Miami’s solo ascension has been a treat for me. Her public life hasn’t been perfect, like mine and yours, but we’ve seen her move through grief and tough times. She kept her former group, City Girls, afloat in 2019 when she was pregnant with her second child, onstage alone and carrying the torch whilst her bandmate (who we also support) was in prison, serving a federal prison sentence for fraudulent credit card charges and aggravated identity theft.

In 2024, she shared that City Girls split. In what appears to be Yung Miami’s natural fashion, she displayed resilience by releasing several solo singles like ‘News Flash’ and ‘Tea Time’ this year. In 2024, she appeared on fellow artists’ records like ‘Don’t Play With It’ (2023) and ‘I’ma Hoe Too’ with DaBaby (2025).

Surprisingly, it wasn’t until this year that ‘Spend Dat’ broke through and changed her life again! Only this time, it was after experiencing another kind of loss.

Do you have any idea how many others would have folded and given up? Setting the controversial content of her music aside, Caresha Romeka Brownlee is a human being first, with two children to care for and a family and friends who love her unconditionally.

I’m not saying we don’t have the right to criticise people and their art. Subsequently, art is subjective, thought-provoking, provocative and necessary to reflect and to document the times. However, I suggest we continue to love on her and support her as we constructively criticise and teach artists—as a community. I believe that’s how we can keep them alive and witness their growth.

Since you’re here, watch the official video for ’2008’, too.

Furthermore, the streets say she’s making music men enjoy à la Young Jeezy homage (‘Thug Motivation 101’). If you haven’t yet, pre-order Yung Miami’s forthcoming album ‘Watch Dis’ now.

Unquestionably, she is on the official entry/eligibility list for Best New Artist for the 2027 GRAMMY Awards. Her track ‘Spend Dat’ has been submitted for consideration in categories like Best Rap Song for the 2027 GRAMMYs, following fan and media buzz after it was left out of the MTV VMAs.
