“I’ve got cold hands and cold feet/I can’t commit to anything”

Recently, Momo Boyd, the captivating Black Americana artist from the family band Infinity Song, released a sincere video for ‘Cold Hands’. Over the spellbinding production, the Detroit-born singer croons about making necessary life changes, linking it to an inevitable end. As the lyrics revealed, she’s been thinking about the worst way to go. And her choice is to sever their ties.
She hasn’t sat with us to discuss the story behind this song, but here’s how it feels. It feels as if Momo Boyd has been emotionally in limbo, waiting for her significant other to love her how they once did. Unfortunately, their relationship has taken a turn for the worse, and she was left to choose herself.
It is anomalous to anticipate bad or unwanted news, but it happens. We believe our love is unconditional; it isn’t reciprocated. As someone currently grieving many losses, I can understand how she connects what’s occurring to her to being a child of divorce.
It’s a sign of her processing it (in front of the world), which I applaud because it is hard.
Watch the treatment below to notice her winsome beauty.
