The actor who brought ‘Big Pussy’ Bonpensiero to life has passed away, leaving a crime drama legacy behind.
Vincent Pastore, the actor synonymous with HBO’s landmark crime drama ‘The Sopranos’, has died at 80. He was found at his Bronx home after a neighbour raised the alarm. Pastore had not been heard from for three days.
He played Salvatore ‘Big Pussy’ Bonpensiero across the show’s first two seasons—Tony Soprano’s confidant turned FBI informant. The character’s fate became one of television’s most talked-about twists. Meanwhile, Pastore built a career whilst working alongside icons of the genre, appearing in ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘Casino’.
Beyond the mob roles, he lent his voice to ‘Shark Tale’ and remained a familiar face on screen for decades. Fans and co-stars are now paying tribute, remembering a performer who helped define an era of television. His impact, ultimately, endures.
