Dish Pit – Family Man (Submission)

Dish Pit, a Canadian trio compared to the Kurt Cobain-led Nirvana and the late Chrissie Hyndes, released a song about being a family man. 73.7 million children under the age of eighteen live in families with two parents, but I happen to be one who didn’t live with my father. No, this is not about to turn into one of ‘those’ articles, but it is hard to imagine when you don’t have an account of your own. Moreover, what is the family man in 2018? Are the same ideals carried over from the decades before the 2000s? Who knows, but the female-led band may be able to help you understand what that may be in a new world.

‘Family Man’ is a marker ahead of the debut album set to come out late 2018. Additionally, the band submitted to GRUNGECAKE only using SubmitHub. We thank you for your interest in reviewing.

Kallblod – Bone & Cream (Submission)

Knowing what you want is sexy. Being transparent isn’t the norm in society, but at least people know where you stand with things. It helps to make our worlds move along quicker and smoother. Impatience, or acting out of impulse isn’t always the best thing when considering others around us, but to be honest, it feels “right” because of how raw or feelings are. For some of us, it is an innate feeling that we shouldn’t ignore.

Wanting to remain anonymous as separate people, Kallblod wants us to focus on their musical efforts, solely. They’ve also asked for us to see them as a single person with multiple personalities. I get that, so I respect that.

WESLEE – Somebody (Acoustic Version) (Submission)

I loved the original version of ‘Somebody’, and I love the acoustic version. So far, to date, WESLEE is one of the best musical duos I’ve come across through SubmitHub. Hear the stripped down version of the Contemporary R&B group’s hot track.

She Drew the Gun – Resister Reprise (Submission)

Nothing seems to wake us up like hard topics, harsh truths, and anything else that challenges our comfort. That’s what ‘Resister Reprise’ does when I turn it on. The Wirral-born singer didn’t intend to make us frolick and carry on like we do all the time. She Drew the Gun wanted us to know and feel something. Well done.

DANSU – Love is Ours (Submission)

Positivity is charming, and that’s all that I hear when I listen to DANSU’s track. It’s a feel-good love song, bound to make you clap your hands, snap your fingers, and move. Gather your loved ones, turn this on, and get to work in any given space. Your body wants you to dance today’s stress away.
