Sounding a whole lot like Erykah Badu on an astral plane, Valerie June shares a new single from her forthcoming album titled, “The Order of Time.”

As the Memphis, Tennessee-native songstress flows through the stratosphere, she multitasks and trustfully sings about cleansing with holy water and rain. Holistic and wholesome in her artistry, the unique singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist creates rhythms that feel like nourishment.
In a recent interview with NPR, Valerie June shared her strong suit is not in the recording department. Appropriately and however, she is fortunate and appreciative of the people in her life that help her. I think all fellow musicians and music lovers can understand that. Sometimes, all we have is a voice. We are often in tandem with other skilled people — producers, songwriters, vocal coaches, and more — because we cannot take on industry standards alone. Which is why her pal, Matt Marinelli, is of great importance.
Mr. Marinelli produced “The Order of Time” LP. He also creatively directed and assigned each arrangement for the album. Much like celebrated American painter Chuck Close does with his larger-than-life paintings. All intricate details planned. Then, masterfully executed. What a grand gift from God!
Valerie June’s album “The Order of Time” is set to hit stores on January 27. In the meantime, stream “Astral Plane,” a single from the Concord Music Group release.
