Alternative R&B artist Summer Walker’s debut album ‘Over It’ is a sultry R&B diary

Relatively new to the music industry, songstress Summer Walker took the world by storm in 2018 with her hit ‘Girls Need Love’. This year she’s released her debut studio album ‘Over It’ with a list of all-star features from artists such as Usher, Bryson Tiller, Jhene Aiko, Drake and more!

The eighteen-track album, produced by London On Da Track, is a sultry R&B diary. Her lyrics stay true to a theme of love, lust, heartbreak and every confusing emotion in between. Summer is transparent and raw in her music yet her vocals and smooth beats make the lyrics seem much softer and lighter than they are. Listening to the album in its entirety gives you a full scope of the artist’s experiences with relationships and her ability to express it all through music.

Songs that will catch your attention are ‘Just Might’ and ‘I’ll Kill You’ for the somewhat shocking/exciting nature of the lyrics, however, my personal favorite track on this album is ‘Tonight’.

‘Tonight’ is a true, honest-to-goodness love song about finally seeing your special someone after being separated by distance. It’s relatively mellow compared to a few other tracks, but it’s definitely a vibe.

If this album and its success is any indication of what we can expect in the future, Miss Summer Walker will undoubtedly have a long and fruitful career. We can’t wait to hear more!
