One of the greatest qualities of Mick Jenkins is his ability to sit down, be introspective, and effectively communicate with his fans and new listeners, parts of himself and his truths on each of his projects. His latest release ‘The Circus’ comes off as a revelation of a reaffirmed Mick Jenkins, in which fans can hear him standing confidently in a space of understanding and purpose. ‘The Circus’ at points seems to be about his journey and finding his balance as he juggles through music, personal life, and truth.

He starts the project talking about the effects of his expression of truth on ‘Same Ol’, which he then follows up by sharing the reality of the Black man with the project’s single ‘Carefree’. A personal favorite is ‘The Light’ featuring EARTHGANG, in which they dive into the reality of their individuality and submitting to it, with the hope to ignite a flame in listeners to be freely expressive of your own truth. Another personal favorite would be his final track, ‘Different Scales’, in which Mick Jenkins shares that the reality of his life and his success can’t be measured on the same scale as others.

It’s always exciting when new Mick Jenkins music drops, and ‘The Circus’ doesn’t disappoint! The release comes before his upcoming tour with EARTHGANG, and give fans new music to rap along to.
