Review: ANKO’s unruffled instrumental EP features alluring compositions and minimal sampling

Unruffled and perhaps, produced with our heart rates in mind, ANKO’s instrumental album is easy-listening at its finest. Hardly any samples are used. The Parisian duo takes pride in playing various instruments like the oboe, trumpet and clarinet themselves. It’s what makes their sound best for achieving a clear mind or getting from point A to point B. If you are an avid music listener like I am, you can hear the other genre influences amidst the alluring compositions and sonic ideas. Hip-Hop is definitely in the building. The first track (‘Opale’) starts off like Goapele is supposed to sing over the beat.

Check out ANKO’s new EP, ‘Waved’ below. It is a five-track independent release without vocals. You could loop the project several times before knowing it. I know because it happened to me. Happily, I am in round six.
