Nigerian-born singer Tiwa Savage shares official video for title track, ‘Sugarcane’

As the year came to a close, the Nigerian-born singer released the official video for her Yoruba/English cut.

As the year came to a close, the Ikeja, Nigerian-born singer Tiwa Savage released the official video for her Yoruba/English cut. ‘Sugarcane’ is the second single from her chart-topping EP of the same name. Watch the video for the Afropop hit below. There are a bunch of sweet things in the video—chocolate-covered humans, ice cream, candy, etc. Everything but sugarcane. I’m not sure who worked in the wardrobe and setting, but it is delightful.

Tiwatope Savage-Balogun (born February 5, 1980) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress. She currently has a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Savage signed a recording contract with Mavin Records in 2012. Savage also signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation in June 2016. She co-wrote the track ‘Collard Greens & Cornbread’ off Fantasia Barrino’s GRAMMY-nominated album, Back to Me. Her debut studio album, Once Upon a Time, was released in July 2013. Savage sings in English and Yoruba.
