Angel Haze’s latest mixtape ‘Back To The Woods’ was produced entirely by Tk Kayembe. This mixtape is a follow up to her 2013 project, ‘Dirty Gold’. Angel Haze is a female rapper from Detroit consistently packing jaw-dropping rhymes. The first song on the thirteen-track mixtape ‘D-Day’ is a collection of bars related to problems she’s experienced while growing up in the D.
The next track ‘Impossible’ draws listeners into Angel’s wild world by literally explaining her thoughts. This track is similar to Eminem’s ‘Slim Shady’ record because Angel speaks on whatever she feels, even if people may view her thoughts as abstract. Her lyrics is as follows,
“Considered suicide, I do that these days, I thought about what I could do with my grave, Google search how to make a grenade.”
As the mixtape continues, it gets deeper because Angel holds no punches and releases her pain in her music. In ‘On Fire’, ‘Exposed’, and ‘Dark Places’, she verbally paints a picture of her bruised soul. ‘On Fire’ itself will stir emotions and impact every listener because she talks about her struggles within due to her inner demons. However, despite the lyrics on ‘On Fire’, and ‘Dark Places’, ‘Exposed’ is the deepest track on the entire mixtape. ‘Exposed’ is laced with heart-wrenching realities and bone-chilling lyrics.
She unleashes her vocals both in rhymes and melodies on ‘Back to the Woods’. You will hear her singing on a couple of tracks such as, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and ‘The Woods’. She’s also able to rap on trap beats such as on ‘Babe Ruthless’.
