Watch: Jazz Cartier’s “Set Fire”

It would appear as if the idea of reinventing the wheel has become nothing more than a mist. Fragrantly beautiful yet not tangible. I applaud these young brothas out here carving their names on hip hop’s wall of history. They’re finding ways to perfect the art of communication. Like it or not, we are in a renaissance era in which the lyrics come second to the energy in which the artists are giving off. Sure Jazz Cartier has some slick lines in his new video, “Set Fire”, but his presence is just so damn commanding. He has this glare to his eye. It’s somewhat shadowed. Like a panther gearing up to pounce his prey. His raps didn’t lead me to this conclusion. His vibe did. Renaissance shit.
