Watch Pacific Northwestern emerging artist Tehya buy a gold fish in her ‘Catch//Release’ video
Is this one for the people who genuinely know how to have a good time? If it is, Lord, create more of them for the sake of balancing out humanity.

From the floor of a pet shop, emerging singer Tehya sings about her toxic relationship and purchases a goldfish. Seemingly her and the virulent lad get into a boxed blue Mercedes-Benz to enjoy a meal. When en route, the Pacific-Northwest rising artist shows her aquatic friend the road. Next, her male pal kisses the plastic bag where the fish resides for the time being.
Perhaps wanting to walk off the food they ate, the pair make a stop at a shopping mall. Before getting their freshwater fish buddy into a proper tank, they make another stop at a park, sit in the grass and also eat ice cream.
Randomly, in another scene, an older gentleman with a pink Pussy Riot shirt also holds the plastic dwelling place. In the following scene, she goes as far as strapping the plastic bag in the passenger seat.
Unfortunately, the bag became foggy or cloudy before they made it home, so they made another stop at the place of purchase. According to the message at the end of the video, no fish were harmed in the making of the video; that lets me know that everything is okay.
About the track, Tehya describes it as “the turbulence of realising someone you love is holding you back, whilst still being so attached and not understanding how to let go despite the toxicity. analogises the relationship to that of a fish on a hook (both partners interchangeably being the fish) “look straight in its eyes” highlighting the acknowledgment of life behind them, knowing you’re hurting this living thing, becoming attached to that humanisation.”
Her forthcoming five-track extended play ‘A Changeable Feast’ comes out on August 14. Check out the music video directed by Brandon Mosquera above. If you’ve enjoyed this Tehya song, then you may enjoy everything else she has to offer.
In addition to this release, Tehya starred in ‘Love Spells’ music video for ‘Keep It to Yourself’. It was released two weeks ago, and it has garnered 162,000 views.
