O
ver the Summer, New York City-based avant-garde singer-songwriter and rapper Charlie Sheena released a fashion-forward music video for the Electro-Pop/Hip House track titled, “Thot Joose.” Sheena and some friends (Ebone Simone, Gelso Satori, and Tyler Stone) head to Coney Island, Brooklyn for some vivacious fun at the carnival. From the animation (done by SOZOMAIKA) to the aquatic sounds implemented at the beginning, instantly I was invested.
The audacious dance track boasts of tasty nether regions, fun times, and more. Among the pulled pieces, I like the spiked Thrasher crop top, the fishnet tops, and the white shorts with the suspenders the most. Girl, you are glowing. I love to see you smile. Watch the well-done visual directed and edited by Tyler Stone. The upstart received support from the following companies and people: Patricia Field Studio, ARTFASHION (Field’s collection), Branden Wuensch, Memo Jimenez, Kristina Kiss, and Darren Loli.
Billboard, OUT, Huffington Post, and more have supported the debut release on the Brooklyn-based label, FemmeKraft.
When it comes to Sheena, the Bronx-based musician’s track, the label owner explained the following to Huffington Post:
“My first official release is releasing on August 11th. It will release worldwide. This is [with] an artist named Charlie Sheena. I’ve done a few songs with her. This will be the second song that I will have released with her. This new song is called “THOT JOOSE”. A THOT is an acronym and it stands for: That Hoe Over There. It’s like an internet phrase really. It means she’s just like any hoe that you see at a club. It’s a take-off on those little juices called nutcrackers that they sell on the beach. It’s a take on that but these little juices that she has, if you drink it you turn into a hoe.”
Charlie Sheena and I are high school friends. Yes, it was a world away, but I can say she’s been this creative-eclectic since we met the late 90s-early 00’s. Learn more about the Brooklyn-based FemmeKraft Records artist, and the ambitious queer label now via this link.
According to OUT, the two (Charlie Sheena and Tyler Stone) met at “the original Spectrum nightclub years ago.” If you like the record by the bubbly artist, support it and purchase it from iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon. Sheena, I’m looking forward to hearing more music in the future.
Love her.
