Brianna Perry recently dropped a visual for ‘Love, Drugs, Etc.’ The visual hit YouTube this month, while the track itself has been available since 2018 when the album ‘Fortune Cookie’ dropped. What is spicy about this is the confidence and arrogance that echoes on the song as she declares, “BP the real bitch is in the room,” in the first few seconds of the song. She is from Florida, but this track hits hard reminiscent to the sounds from 2007 when Southern Hip-Hop/Rap got some guitar riffs from Rock and made bangers together that had everyone playing air guitars in the club. The videography and cinematography plus edit and treatment of the video also conjure up nostalgia from Jay-Z’s ‘DOA’ video.
But there is more to the video than BP’s all black Off-White outfit, the flashing lights, and the fire breather… As a member of both Sisterhood of Hip Hop and Love and Hip Hop Miami, there are several celebrity cameos in the video from Fat Joe to Bobby Lytes, and FloRida; it also looked like Shay Johnson from #LHHMIA had one too.
Brianna Perry is delivering real “rapper” bars in this track. During this entire track, she lets you know who she is what she’s about. However, there are two lyrics that I hope Genius interviews her about. The first lyric sounds like, “Espadrille the toes, misdemeanor.” The second lyric in question sounds like, “Pockets lookin’ dumb, call it Gina.” Brianna Perry is a proud Miami native as we see in her video as Bobby Lytes wears a vest with Miami across the front, and we hear plenty of Miami references throughout the song. To take a step even further and to tie in that confidence and arrogance as previously mentioned, BP sounds off that, “I’m the Shawn Carter of my city, Never seen a gangster this pretty.”
