Genre-fusing pop star MIA returns with ‘Popular’

Baby, MIA is back from her hiatus, and suddenly, it feels like the mid-10s again.

On the record, MIA sings about people suddenly wanting to be around her all because she loves herself. ‘Popular’ is the follow-up record to ‘The One’, a record she put out in May. We are unsure how that one didn’t make it to our speakers, but we are excited nonetheless. According to her label, MIA recorded her new album in various places like London, Los Angeles, Italy, Bali, Jakarta, and St Vincent. Because MIA is one of this generation’s most original, exciting, and innovative multi-media creators, we look forward to seeing and hearing what’s next.

Listen to her talking big shit on her latest record, ‘Popular’ from her forthcoming album, ‘MATA’, through Island Records. It features what her team calls her “influencer-bot-in-training” MAI, as seen on the cover art.
