Yesterday, Ego Ella May shared a live performance video of ‘Don’t Take My Lover Away’. Taken from her new album, she croons about the experience of love and not wanting to end it. As far as how it’s going, she likens it to a fairytale romance. Throughout the track, she sings something like a prayer of protection to keep him alive. She believes they have living to do, together.
About her sophomore album, she says, “For a long time, these songs were just small ideas moving quietly through my days. A melody that arrived while I was walking somewhere. A line that stayed with me long enough to write down. Little fragments that didn’t know yet what they were becoming.
Ego Ella May – Good Intentions
Making this album felt different to the time around ‘Honey For Wounds’. Back then, everything still felt quite new to me, the process, the pace, even the idea of sharing something so personal with people I’d never met. This time, the work asked for something slower. More listening, more patience, and a whole lot of trust.”

Next month, British-Nigerian artist Ego Ella May will perform three times in the United Kingdom: Once, today April 29, at YES in Manchester, at the Jam Jam Bar in Bristol (May 7), and at the Islington Assembly Hall in London (May 9).
