Boosie Badazz reignites WNBA trans athlete row with fiery X/Twitter post

The Hip-Hop veteran doubled down on his ‘Juwanna Mann’ rhetoric this week, dragging his own complicated LGBT history back into the spotlight.

Boosie Badazz—real name Torence Ivy Hatch Jr—took to his X account this week with a blunt, unnecessary message. If you haven’t read it, the rapper wants what he calls ‘Juwanna Mann’ athletes kept out of the WNBA.

He told critics to “go try out for the NBA” and match up against Victor Wembanyama instead.

According to Complex Magazine, he might have referred to “the 34-year-old French transgender basketball player Julie Tétart, who was recently dragged into the ongoing debate on trans athletes even though she doesn’t currently play in the WNBA.”

No verified trans athlete currently plays in the league; sceptics online have already dismissed the claim as rage bait.

This isn’t new territory for the Hip-Hop star. Boosie has spent years attacking the LGBTQ+ community, from Lil Nas X to Dwyane Wade‘s child, Zaya, who identifies as a teenage girl (19). His own daughter, Poison Ivi, came out as a lesbian, and he has publicly struggled to accept it, once saying he feared she’d “contaminate” her siblings.

She hit back on Instagram, calling his comments exhausting. Boosie insists he still loves her, whilst raising his other children under the same conservative values he grew up with—a tension that keeps fuelling headlines.
