Wyclef Jean reveals mud pie confession that left Lauryn Hill speechless

The Fugees legend says his childhood story sounded too wild to be true… until he explained the stomach worms.

Wyclef Jean just dropped a childhood story that sounds like myth but is grim reality. The Hip-Hop icon and Fugees member revealed he ate mud pies growing up in Haiti. Lauryn Hill, his bandmate, didn’t buy it at first. She accused him of exaggerating for effect. Jean insists otherwise. He says the habit left him with stomach worms and nearly killed him.

The story broke during his recent interview with the One54 Africa Podcast, where Jean laid out the details plainly. According to Jean, poverty in Haiti pushed families toward desperate measures. Mud pies were part of his survival, unfortunately. Hill’s disbelief, according to Jean, came from how far removed the memory feels from his current life as a GRAMMY-winning artist.

The moment adds a raw layer to Jean’s story—one that proves his rise from hardship wasn’t exaggerated at all.
