Play Nigerian artist Dusten Truce’s ‘Not A Lot’ more than once
“I dey do as I talk, talk as I do”
Today, gifted Nigerian creative Dusten Truce opens his brand new record ‘Not A Lot’ to remind his fans that he is a stand-up guy. In the next line, he also makes it known that he is one of one. Wearing his Igbo pride on his head, he doubles down on why he walks around with his chest up. On the memorable chorus, the Lagosian says many people haven’t “made it” from where he’s from.
Before starting the next verse, he reveals how he handles people who don’t pay him. He deletes their contact information, taking the loss, unfortunately.
Thus, at the top of the second verse, he raps about needing a few million (naira or dollars?). What would he do with that kind of money? He would continue to invest in himself, as he believes he never takes a loss.
“So I never take a loss
Even when the money is negative, it’s still a plus
Even when the money is negative, I’m still a boss”
When it comes to the current state of Nigeria’s music business, Dusten Truce believes that “Naija’s blessing is still a curse”. Why? He may be alluding to the West African country’s current and past presidencies. He says it’s your best bet to move out of the continent and dwell abroad. More than likely, his reasoning pertains to the rising costs of living for its citizens. As a result, it appears to force some residents to fall into grifting or fraud.
