Future’s ‘Mixtape Pluto’ lands at #1 on the Billboard 200
Diamond-certified, three-time GRAMMY Award-winning Hip-Hop luminary Future officially makes history. ‘Mixtape Pluto’, his latest critically-lauded project, officially debuts at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
[media-credit name=”Instagram” link=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DACDvPZSgb6/?img_index=4″ width=820 align=”center”]
[/media-credit]
It not only becomes Future’s eleventh number one album, but also marks a rare feat: It is his third new number one album in just six months time, following this spring’s ‘We Don’t Trust You’ and ‘We Still Don’t Trust You’. His trifecta of releases became the first to achieve this milestone this decade, as Future became the first act to achieve this since The Beatles in 1965-1966, and the first Hip-Hop act ever. Most impressively, he is the first solo artist to accomplish this chart feat ever, regardless of genre. Additionally, ‘Mixtape Pluto’ debuts number one across a variety of additional charts, including the Top Streaming Albums, R&B/Hip Hop Overall Consumption as well as #1 on the Rap Overall Consumption chart. Impressively, all seventeen tracks on ‘Mixtape Pluto’ landed this week on the Hot 100, making Future the first and only Hip-Hop artist to debut all songs from an entire project without any features on the chart.
Future’s influence over music and culture has never been more apparent. ‘Mixtape Pluto’ has also earned the icon widespread acclaim. Pitchfork proclaimed it among Future’s “best and strangest,” spotlighting how it is “urgent, kinetic, filled with heartbreaking asides and tiny bursts of melodic ingenuity.” Highlighting his “blockbuster year,” Rolling Stone noted how ‘Mixtape Pluto’ “successfully reminds listeners of the type of innovation and dedication that he’s built a career on.” GQ proclaimed that it is “Future’s third top-shelf project in a less-than-twelve-month period that ranks with the best runs any rapper’s ever been on”—or as Billboard compared, “Mixtape Pluto is seventeen tracks of an artist that has once again entered a zone mere mortals cannot comprehend. This is like Shohei Ohtani going for 50/50, or Steph Curry hitting threes from different zip codes, or Aaron Judge chasing the triple crown. What I’m trying to say is that Future is on his Patrick Mahomes, as I round out these sports references.” Uproxx summed it up succinctly: “Mixtape Future is the best Future, because like the future, the possibilities are endless.”

Masked singer RMR releases official remix to ‘DEALER’ featuring Future and Lil Baby: Listen
Earlier this week, I had text conversations with my friends about masked musicians. I wanted to know if any crossed over to the mainstream, successfully, without us knowing what they look like without it on. Names like Sia,
R Kelly, MF DOOM, HER, and Ghostface Killah were names that my friends mentioned, but the listed contenders didn’t meet the requirements of what I was thinking. However, RMR seems to be the artist I was thinking of, without knowing of his existence. In February upon the release of ‘Rascal’ and its stark visual component, so many people texted me to ask if I saw it or if I knew who he was.In my recent memory, Tyler, the Creator is the last artist, to evoke such a response with the release of ‘Yonkers’, which now has 123 million views on YouTube. I remember when it had 300 views; I’m sure I have a screenshot somewhere, but let’s get back to the subject at hand. RMR released the official video for ‘DEALER’ almost a month ago, to the date, and it has 2.1 million views and counting. Some days ago, he unleashed the audio to the official remix with Future and Lil Baby. You can listen to the track below.

New Music Sundays: 5 new videos you need to watch featuring Future, Pop Smoke, and more
Future – Tycoon (Personal)
Currently trending on YouTube at #46, Future’s latest features a beautiful woman by his side as he sings/raps about transcending from the bricks to the big screen. Sharing some detail about the lifestyle of a hustler, ‘Tycoon’ follows the rules of Future’s signature bombastic production and hypnotising melodic delivery. Watch the clean Elf Rivera-direction below.

Fivio Foreign – Wetty (Personal)
Brooklyn’s it-boy Fivio Foreign picks up where he left off with his risky lifestyle in his new cinematic visual for ‘Wetty’. As the love story plays out, he and his girl face a near-death situation, and she doesn’t scurry. To my liking, at the end of the video, he plays out the first verse of the song. It’s what made me like the song the most because who doesn’t like when art imitates life? By the looks of it, Brooklyn Drill is here to stay, and Foreign will forever be on the frontline. Check out the visual now.

Lil Durk – All Love (Personal)
One of Chicago’s Drill pioneers, Lil Durk is back with the official visual for his endearing song called ‘All Love’. Looking to take his career to the next level, he talks to friends about connecting to the souls of his fans. Check out the black-and-white video featuring concert footage currently trending at #4, below.

Rich the Kid – Easy (Personal)
On a Brooklyn Drill beat, Queens-native rapper Rich the Kid brags about his lady wearing Chanel only; no Yeezy’s. Posted up at a laundromat and deli for the linkup, he and some friends hang out, dance to the uptempo beat, and eat pizza. At the end of the video, he pays homage to the late Pop Smoke. Watch the official visual for one of the vivacious singles from Rich the Kid’s new album, ‘Boss Man’ now.

Pop Smoke – Shake the Room featuring Quavo (Personal)
The moment of silence at the end is beautiful. Try not to cry as you watch. Currently trending at #13 on YouTube, the posthumous visual for ‘Shake the Room’ features Pop Smoke and Quavo spending time together in Paris, France. As an avid listener and supporter of the Brooklyn Drill movement, not only is this one of my favourite songs on ‘Meet the Woo 2’, it is so good to see them having fun. Pop Smoke was really on his way. I predict this song is going to chart. Watch the video to see our fallen hometown hero in one of his last moments. And thank you to Virgil Abloh and his team for getting this done.

Lil Skies – Havin My Way featuring Lil Durk (Personal) (Bonus)
As both artists offer tight verses on the danceable track, the video for ‘Havin My Way’ opens up with the two—Lil Skies and Lil Durk—tied to the ropes like puppets. Next, they’re in the crowd amid zombie-like people. It isn’t clear how they got there, or why, but it makes for a damned good visual. In particular, Lil Durk’s verse starts with referencing Lil Baby and Gunna’s famous hook on the chart-topping record ‘Drip Too Hard’.
