Swiss singer-songwriter Sam Himself shares wondrous visual for ‘Slow Drugs’: Watch

With a breathtakingly alluring visual component, Swiss singer-songwriter Sam Himself brings his latest single ‘Slow Drugs’ to life.

When we look at it, we see it as an abstract representation of someone’s emotions and frustrations. It’s like when you ask how your spouse is doing, and they tell you they are “fine”, but they aren’t. They are secretly battling with depression and anxiety. Wanting to numb those feelings, the person in pain might take “something strong” to soften the blows of their realities.

The New York City-based artist tries to explain what inspired the song:

‘Slow Drugs’ began with a particular person and experience in mind, but the song kept growing in scope until it became this jubilantly morose ode to a strange time in my life, an adventurous and slightly insane period I tried to make sense of by writing about it (still trying).

The artist shot the video in Switzerland, on rollerskates. ‘Slow Drugs’ is the lead single and title track from his forthcoming extended play, set to release in May. It features Josh Werner, Parker Kindred, Jeff Buckley, Daniel Schlett (DIIV, The War on Drugs), and Beatle.
