Kimora Lee Simmons refuses to leave $25M Beverly Hills mansion amid legal battle

American entrepreneur and reality television star Kimora Lee Simmons is refusing to vacate a lavish $25 million Beverly Hills mansion, despite a contentious legal dispute over the property’s ownership and origin. Simmons, 50, best known as a fashion mogul and founder of Baby Phat, has lived in the seven-bedroom, nine-bath estate for several years. The luxury home first made headlines because it was purchased by her now-estranged husband, former banker Tim Leissner, using funds tied to the 1MDB sovereign wealth fund scandal—one of the largest global financial frauds in history.
According to court records, Leissner admitted under oath that he used $25 million embezzled from Malaysia’s 1MDB fund to buy the mansion. The property was later sold without Simmons’ consent in a distressed refinancing deal to billionaire investors, but Simmons insists she was not properly notified of the sale and asserts that her signature was obtained under false pretences.
The Reuben Brothers, who now hold legal title to the home, have sought to take possession of the estate, but Simmons has so far refused to leave. The dispute has dragged on for years and is now heading toward a February 25 court conference that could determine the future of the property.
The Beverly Hills mansion has also been featured on Simmons’ new reality series, ‘Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane’, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at her life amid the ongoing civil battle.
Whilst Simmons has not been implicated in any wrongdoing related to the 1MDB scandal, her refusal to move has drawn widespread attention—and renewed public interest in the complex case surrounding the mansion.
