  • Nottingham emcee Bru-C teams up with renowned Birmingham producer Chris Lorenzo for ‘Introspective’: Watch the visual

In these uncertain times, we all need a little shining light and what Bru-C and Chris Lorenzo created with ‘Introspective’ is everything we need to hear and see right now. Making time for yourself and using this time to go inward weighs heavily throughout the lyrical message of this drum and bass track. Creating meaning for yourself as we all feel like prisoners in our own homes. These lyrics evoke strong feelings of the now and entice the listener in an optimistic way.

Drum and Bass can usually lend a heavy hand in the sound of a song but somehow these two were able to create a softer side of DnB with the low tones in comparison to the rich vocals. Listening to this track should be on everyone’s to-do list right now. Spark some inspiration, some insight and some introspection.

  • Los Angeles two-piece Moby Rich share song about escaping the friend zone with Bishop Briggs: Hear ‘friends*’

If there was ever a song to encapsulate my social life and dating life, it might be this one. “Sometimes, losing friends is alright” has a dual meaning for me, though.

    (1) When you are crushing on someone, and you want to leave the friend’s zone, they have to see you as more than a friend. In this case, losing a friend would be a “good” thing: All for the sake of being lovers.

    (2) As callous as it may seem to people who aren’t lion-hearted, it is a way of life. Sometimes, we have to bring relationships/friendships to an end to survive. We hurt, too, but we know our worth and what’s best for personal growth and peace. In this case, losing a friend would be a “good” thing: All for the sake of loving ourselves more.

Regardless of which interpretation fits you, listen to the Alt-Pop group Moby Rich’s Bishop Briggs-assisted song ‘friends*’ now.

  • Listen to ZZ, Guapdad 4000, Thorii, and Lil Littlez’s latest collaboration ‘MOOD’

ZZ, Lil Littlez, and Thorii give listeners a very chill banger with ‘MOOD’. Featuring Guapdad 4000, this is the type of song that made so many listeners stay in love with the work of Travis Scott. Not too tame, but not too wild. It is a track that you can listen to and just appreciate without much effort.

The first verse of the track comes in and sets the mood. The verse delivery changes from slower to fast a few times, and it creates this perfect punch for the hook to come in. The rest of the song is catchy, verses included. They are all easy to learn. After a few listens, I am already able to remember some of the verses and rap along and that is the value of a song like this. We want to memorize it and sing along whenever I hear it.

If this were a Travis Scott song with Quavo and NAV, then this song would be sitting somewhere on the Billboard Hot 100, but it’s not a Travis Scott song. At the beginning of the article, I said “stay in love” because even though this isn’t going to be the track to hit the mainstream… I do believe that it can and will be picked up and placed on popular playlists. The song is a good song and people will listen to it more than once. Also, ‘MOOD’ has a strong feature from Guapdad 4000, who has a following after working on projects with artists like Chance the Rapper, Rich Brian, and many others. Many listeners are going to toss this one into their daily rotation once they listen. Get into the ‘MOOD’, and check out the song!

  • Los Angeles-based artist Bam Marley shares abstract visual for ‘Beyond’: Watch

Last week, Bam Marley released the official video for his song ‘Beyond’, which implements multi-dialects and a definitive hook style. Although, the name of the song is ‘Beyond’; I presume that’s what he says during the chorus, it sounds like he could also be saying his name “Bam”. His delivery isn’t fine-tuned, but it could become something innovative, down the road, if directed and developed. It’s so strange yet satisfying that I thought it was an onomatopoeia during my first listen.

Aside from the new artist figuring out what will work best to make him stand out from the pack if you’re wondering about the derivation of his name, it is authentic. He’s the grandson of the late music icon, Bob Marley. Straying away from the traditional sound of his grandfather and his children, Bam Marley seems to sculpt/create what he feels best to him at this moment. In the least bit, it is attractive, and I look forward to seeing how this develops in the future. Watch the abstract visual below for ‘Beyond’.
