Mariah the Scientist talks to Summer Walker about going on tour with friends
Summer Walker: How was the tour when you was on it?
Maria the Scientist: I feel like sometimes when you make friends with somebody who also makes music, you like to assume that it’s like, “Okay cool…” And it is different for the boys. Maybe I’m always assuming this because all the rappers who are friends, the lines between working and playing have totally been blurred. They don’t even exist. They’re not insistent. With the girls, obviously we work, we play. All those things, but you assume, “Okay, cool. I’m going on tour with my friend. We’re going to be partying hard. We’re on the town.”
Summer Walker: What y’all do? Y’all just went to sleep?
Mariah the Scientist: We didn’t do a damn thing.
Summer Walker: It be like that.
Summer Walker: Where is your favorite place to perform, if you have one?

Mariah the Scientist talks to Summer Walker about her favorite place to perform
Mariah the Scientist: My favourite place that I did was a tabernacle in Atlanta. I just love the Tabernacle. It’s just such a classic venue. I just always wanted to play that and they tried to ask me did I want to play another venue instead of doing two days there, and it was just like, “No, it’s the Tabernacle.” I just felt like it was so lit. I just loved everything about it.
Summer Walker: What do you love about it specifically?
Mariah the Scientist: I just love the architecture. I felt like when I was a child I used to, I probably wasn’t supposed to be in there, but there were sometimes I was in there breathing in the Zaza and the air and just seeing the lights come through, the smoke and just all those things.

Mariah the Scientist talks to Summer Walker about what she is over
Mariah the Scientist: Feeling like I need to pull the receipts out, or I need to show the evidence or the proof that the other person is wrong. It’s like, let’s just let them be wrong. It’s okay. It’s okay. They wrong. So, I’m really over that. I’m saying I’m over it, but it’s a work in progress. You tell me what you’re over then I’m going to dig into my Rolodex and try to match your energy.

Mariah the Scientist talks to Summer Walker about what she should be over but is not
Summer Walker: What is something that you should be over but you’re not?
Mariah the Scientist: I am a firm believer, give from the heart, not of the pocket or… Obviously that’s a little metaphorical but something like that. But I just feel like sometimes when you are giving it up, you’re giving it up. And you can’t wait on somebody to reciprocate it or you can’t expect something in return when you’re giving anything away. Whether it be like maybe it’s not necessarily something tangible, maybe it’s more internal thing or whatever the case may be. But I feel like once you do it so much, you’re doing it so much now it’s like you don’t even have… They’re not giving anything back for one and for two, you don’t even have anything to give yourself anymore.

Mariah the Scientist talks to Summer Walker about the concept behind her next album
Mariah the Scientist: I will tell you. I’m going to tell you the concept.
Summer Walker: Okay.
Mariah the Scientist: The concept is a little green toy soldier. It represents being dedicated to a cause that you’re willing to die for, but you’re small and you’re a toy, and you’re not really taken seriously. I’m not going to sleep with a toy soldier in my room thinking it’s going to kill me tonight. It’s a joke, almost. And I feel like it’s a metaphor for the women. That’s how men see us.
Summer Walker: That’s really deep.
Mariah the Scientist: They see us like we’re going so hard for all of this shit, and it’s just like they’re just-
Summer Walker: You’re a fucking joke.
Mariah, the Scientist: They’re just doing it and we’re just like, “It’s nothing.” It’s a modern man’s war on love.

Jeffree Star’s cryptic post rekindles Kanye West affair rumours amid ‘Cousins’ controversy
Say it ain’t so…

[/media-credit]In a dramatic turn of events, beauty mogul Jeffree Star has reignited long-dormant rumors about an alleged affair with rapper Kanye West. This comes in the wake of West’s controversial revelations about his past, detailed in his new song ‘Cousins’.

A tweet that shook the internet
On April 22, 2025, Jeffree Star posted a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter): “Ok f*ck it.. The rumours were true.” This statement sent social media into a frenzy, with many interpreting it as a confirmation of the 2021 rumo[u]rs linking him romantically to Kanye West.
The timing of Star’s tweet is particularly noteworthy, as it closely followed Kanye West’s release of ‘Cousin’, a song accompanied by a deeply personal confession. In a now-deleted tweet, West disclosed a past incestuous relationship with his male cousin during their childhood, a revelation that has sparked widespread discussion and concern.

The origins of the rumour
The initial rumours about an affair between West and Star emerged in early 2021, propagated by TikTok influencer Ava Louise. She claimed that West was involved with a “very famous male beauty guru”, leading internet sleuths to speculate about Star due to his prominence in the beauty industry and both individuals’ ties to Wyoming.
Star promptly denied the allegations, labelling them as “stupid” and “weird”. He emphasised that he and West had never met or spent time together. Louise later admitted that she fabricated the story for attention.

Public reaction and speculation
Star’s recent tweet has reignited public interest and speculation. Some fans believe it to be a belated confession, whilst others view it as a strategic move to capitalise on the current media attention surrounding West’s personal disclosures. Neither West nor his representatives have commented on Star’s statement.
The situation has also prompted discussions about the responsibilities of public figures when sharing personal experiences and the potential impact on those involved.

The broader implications
This incident underscores the complex interplay between celebrity culture, social media, and public discourse. It raises questions about the ethics of sharing sensitive personal information in public forums and the potential consequences for all parties involved.
As the story continues to unfold, it serves as a reminder of the power of words and the far-reaching impact of public statements in the digital age.

MURS writes loving letter to wife in ‘Enjoy’ featuring Nate Curry: Watch the video
It’s from the forty-seven year old’s last album.
Less than a week ago, legendary American underground Hip-Hop artist-vocalist MURS (born Nicholas Neil Carter) released an inspirational official music video for his latest single ‘Enjoy’ featuring Nate Curry. In the visual, the West Coast icon delivers a heartfelt ode to real love, growth, and gratitude by handwriting a letter to his wife. With Nate Curry’s smooth hook and MURS reflecting on past relationships, mistakes, and the magic of finding that one person who brings peace, the track is a grown-man love anthem — honest, vulnerable, and deeply relatable. ‘Enjoy’ captures the kind of love that feels like coming home: flawed, fierce, and beautiful.

[/media-credit]According to the blurb on his label’s official YouTube page, the single comes from the artist’s last and final album, ‘Love & Rockets 3:16 (The Emancipation)’. Spill Tab returns with official music video for endearing single ‘Hold Me’: Watch the video
The melody features a hazy Bossa Nova guitar… that’s to die for.
[media-credit name=”Sweetiepie” width=3840 align=”center”]
[/media-credit] This time, a less chaotic visual than ‘Angie’, Spill Tab, appears in the picture with family and friends–her mother gently combing her hair, a quiet moment on the couch with a partner, and a tender shot of her curled up with her dog on her bed. The album’s last single begins with the French-Korean singer-songwriter and music producer riding in the tail of a pickup truck. ‘Hold Me’, produced by Wyatt Bernard, Austin Corona (Halsey) and Will Van Zandt (Omar Apollo), is a new single from her debut album ‘Angie’ scheduled to release on May 16 through Because Music. Check out the official music video directed by Sweetiepie below. It captures a series of intimate, quietly emotional moments.

Speaking on the new release, spill tab shares “‘Hold Me’ was one of those special songs that poured out the day it was written. Sometimes, songs take months or years to feel finished. I’m such an editor when it comes to my music. I love to cut and replace and add new parts here and there, or rewrite whole verses. But this one is really precious because it’s an honest snapshot of how I was feeling that day. I was sad and so lonely, and was processing a difficult breakup at that point. And so, I love this song because it feels like a little world within a crystal, very honestly captured and well preserved.”
Additionally, Spill Tab will be heading out on her own Summer headliner tour with shows across North America and the United Kingdom. The tour will kick-off on May 23 in Toulouse, France, where she’ll play Le Weekend Des Curiosités Festival, with stops in London and Paris before returning to the United States on June 11 to play New York. Additional stops include Toronto and Chicago with the tour concluding in Los Angeles on June 17.

From girl group stardom to solo brilliance: Former Boys World member Makhyli steps into her power (Interview)
After parting ways with Boys World, Makhyli emerges with a bold debut single, a crystal-clear vision, and a deep desire to connect with the “volatile feelers” who need her most.
[media-credit name=”Courtesy” width=2047 align=”none”]
[/media-credit]Nearly three years ago, I stumbled upon the glittering phenomenon that was Boys World—a Gen-Z girl group with undeniable charisma and tight-knit sisterhood. But as with many beautiful beginnings, evolution was inevitable. Now, Makhyli—fierce, intentional, and ready to soar—emerges from that beloved collective with a solo debut that’s equal parts personal and unapologetic. Her first single, ‘Breaking Bad’, isn’t just a song—it’s a statement. It’s the sound of an artist who’s spent countless sleepless nights dreaming, plotting, and daring to bet on herself.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
In our conversation, Makhyli reflects on everything from navigating the shift from group dynamics to the intimacy of creating music with her producer-boyfriend, to what the future holds for her ever-evolving sound. What’s clear is this: Makhyli isn’t just stepping into a solo era—she’s stepping into her purpose.
Richardine: It has been nearly three years since I came across Boys World. Now, you’re venturing into a solo career! How exciting?! Tell us what it was like to prepare for this moment.
Makhyli: Oh wow, it really feels like time just zips by! This is such a monumental moment for me. I really am prioritising honouring my creative vision and everything I’m doing feels so purposeful. I’ve spen[t] countless hours in the middle of the night planning all aspects of my artistry from what I see the live shows looking like, future makeup looks, cover art… You name it. I’m definitely ready for this moment and willing to put in all the work that comes with it.
Richardine: Your debut single ‘Breaking Bad’ is out now. What inspired the music? Who produced the record? Did it come out the way you hoped?
Makhyli: It feels surreal that it’s out… what in the world?! I’m for sure getting a seafood boil to celebrate. Funny story, but because my boyfriend Robbie is also my producer, and engineer. I used to be wayyyy to[o] nervous to make music with him. It took a year and a half to finally get the guts to try it. I was like, “Okay fine, what do you got?” He pulled out the track to ‘Breaking Bad’ and I instantly felt understood by it. It aligned with something in me. This was the first song he and I have ever created together and it came out better than I could have imagined. I really think it was because I allowed myself to finally break free and not judge it too harshly.

Richardine: Will this sound be your overall sound moving forward? It may be too soon, but do you think it will evolve? If so, how? Would it be different genres?
Makhyli: I really do love experimenting with other sounds. I actually make all kinds of other music for synch-licensing (Hyperpop, some with Country and Afrobeat influence) and it’s so fun to see what I can chameleon into. I do always know that my songs will be for the “volatile feelers” because that’s the place that I write from. I make music for the “chalant” people and wether I evolve sonically, that will always be at the core of what I do.
Richardine: Why did the group disband last July?
Makhyli: It was more of a business decision than anything. Not really anything in our control, which at the end of the day I understand and can respect. I had such a wondrous experience in Boys World that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Richardine: Could you see yourself collaborating with or working on music with your former groupmembers down the line?
Makhyli: Um, yes! 1000% I hope we all never lose that creative side to us. I feel like the fans of Boys World would lose their minds at a collab! That’s something I’ll have to keep in mind. (Laughs)
Richardine: Are you still in Los Angeles? Has the city influenced your solo sound? If so, explain.
Makhyli: I am still in Los Angeles! In elementary school, my teacher would call me “Khyli Hollywood” because she somehow knew one day I would make it here. I feel like this city, with its many influences and people from all walks of life has inspired me to not be defined by labels or genre. I feel like experimentation is highly encouraged here! That’s one of the many reasons I love this city.
Richardine: What else can your fans look out for in 2025?
Makhyli: I always have something up my sleeve! More music is a given! I’m hoping to do some performances and meet up with the “Batpack” as well! I just want to thank them for believing in my vision and allowing me to spread my wings, with their support every step of the way!

Lil Wayne heads to New York’s Madison Square Garden for headlining debut
It feels like Lil Wayne headlined Madison Square Garden already, but he hasn’t. How?
[media-credit name=”Courtesy of the label; Ramona Rosales” width=1280 align=”center”]
[/media-credit]Recently, Lil Wayne, one of the world’s highly skilled master rappers and celebrated businessmen responsible for gifting us Drake and Nicki Minaj announced his headlining debut concert at the iconic and legendary Madison Square Garden. On June 6, the Louisiana-bred superstar will commemorate the release of his fittingly so star-studded forthcoming album, ‘Tha Carter IV’. This album is the follow-up to his first solo studio project since the release of ‘Funeral’ in 2020.

According to several reports, an official tracklist has yet to surface but there was talk of an uncleared Billie Eilish collaboration amid an interview with Rolling Stone. Some artists mentioned during the interview are Miley Cyrus, Machine Gun Kelly, Bono, Elephant Man and his talented son Kameron Carter, which tells me Lil Wayne may potentially have the world tuning in, streaming and purchasing his new album, ‘Tha Carter IV’. There are also whispers about the polarising musical genius Kanye West, or Ye, being on his highly-anticipated album.

I might be predicting too far into the future, but I think June 6 will be a great day in New York City because his fans get to witness Tunechi at this level for the first time in his career.
With his staggering influence on Hip-Hop culture, it is well overdue. We anticipate who he will bring to join him on such an iconic night. We hope it includes New York City’s darling Queen Nicki Minaj and her longtime collaborator and Canada’s global musical icon Drake. It would be interesting to see.

Fyre Festival to transition into music streaming service, set to launch Thanksgiving 2025
Can Thanksgiving come any sooner?
[media-credit name=”Deadline” link=”https://deadline.com/2025/04/fyre-festival-music-streaming-service-1236372940″ width=1000 align=”center”]
[/media-credit]Today, the last thing we thought we would read popped up in our feed. Shockingly, the co-founder of TruBlue, Shawn Rech, acquired the infamous yet memorable Fyre Festival and has plans to debut it as a streaming service instead. According to a report on Deadline, Rech now owns two trademarks that would allow him to launch Fyre outside of its event. Is that a good thing because of the fraudulent history tied to the name? The new kid on the block thinks so, as he wants to focus on “putting the power of music discovery back in the hands of the fans.”

//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
We can only imagine how the leading competitors in that space (Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL) would see that move. We think it is an ultra-bold move and are anxious to see how it plays out on Thanksgiving this year (November 27, 2025) when it launches. If you’re wondering, yes, Billy McFarland is expected to be involved in the streaming platform and still owns the festival. To no avail, McFarland tried to revive his festival after its second cancellation.
Some context: Fyre Festival was a fraudulent luxury music festival organised by American businessman Billy McFarland and American rapper Ja Rule. It was created to promote the company’s Fyre app for booking music talent. The festival was scheduled for April 28–30 and May 5–7, 2017, on the island of Great Exuma.

Before we head out of here, we want to know: Would you stream your favourite artist’s music on the upcoming Fyre Festival platform? If you are an artist, would you add your music to the platform, given its reputation in the past because of the festival? We’re looking forward to learning more about the pricing models.
