  • Barbadian singer Lagoon Wavey shares ‘Aloe Vera’, song inspired by gorgeous female skin: Listen

Bajan singer Lagoon Wavey sends us off into the depths of this lazy Thursday with a calming vocal tone that can make you want to fall deeper in love with who’s in front of you. Inspired by the way women’s skincare rituals, the Barbados-native artist sings about it being hard to focus when the love of his life is in the room because she looks so damned good. “Skin so smooth”, he sings, the Indie R&B crooner celebrates the texture and clarity of her flawless skin. If you’re a fan of PARTYNEXTDOOR like me or anything that sounds remotely like that brand of R&B, you might like Lagoon Wavey’s ‘Aloe Vera’. To me, it kicks off like ‘Closer’ by the beautiful Oakland-native singer, Goapele.

That’s a question I have asked many people in my life before. I mean, because, let’s be real. We are who we are, like it or not. It seems like this has happened to me the most in relationships. My girlfriends seem to like the person they meet, then they want to change me into someone else. Danish musician Soleima’s latest single ‘Roses’ speaks to this perfectly. The upbeat catchy song will have you singing, “Roses, dead roses…” over and over while you’re replying to your ex. • Rostrum Records artist Natalie Lauren shares visual for ‘Something Something’: Watch

    Photo: Twitter

Tulsa, Oklahoma via Atlanta, Georgia, Rostrum Records’ new signee Natalie Lauren’s ‘Something Something’ is an uplifting and comforting track about giving yourself a break from your daily stresses. The lyrics, alone, has that certain reassuring effect that I can only compare to that of ‘O-o-h Child’ by The Five Stairsteps. Sometimes, you just want to know that you are going to be okay; songs such as these can act as a soothing fun mantra. The beat in itself is a variety of groovy and shaggy sounds that complement Lauren’s mellow tone. Listeners can find comfort and relaxation in Natalie Lauren’s message—just relax today because it’s going to be okay.
