  • British duo GAWD Status share official visual for ‘Admiral Byrd’: Watch

    The psychedelic Hip-Hop duo of GAWD Status (Joker Starr and King Kashmere) recently dropped some trippy visuals for their latest single, ‘Admiral Byrd’. The visual for this track tells the story of an explorer landing on Earth for the first time. Amazed and distraught with his discovery, the silver suited explorer breaks out into a burst of randomness. One moment our explorer is dancing and in another moment, he can be seen moshing and throwing stuff. A high-energy video matched perfectly with the song. This video is very entertaining and worth the watch.

  • Watch Indian star Badshah’s new visual for ‘Genda Phool’ co-starring movie star Jacqueline Fernandez

    Badshah, the Indian musical star, released a stunning visual with for ‘Genda Phool’ featuring Paya Del, where Sri Lankan actress and former model Jacqueline Fernandez dances, graciously. From behind red-lense glasses, he sings and raps in different languages to attract a worldwide audience, and most importantly, to woo his breathtaking love interest. If you aren’t familiar with Badshah or accustomed to Indian music, he is a great starting place. Based on the trendy production and common thread, you’ll be able to appreciate his purpose: Bridging the uncomfortably large gap between South Asia and North America, in a way that no one else has been able to achieve at his level.

    It’s a long way before the likes of the leaders of pop culture are singing in traditional languages, but Badshah is a pioneer. If all goes according to plan, he will accomplish my review on his motive. Badshah shared that with this song, he attempted to pick a part of his culture and share it with the world. “The long-forgotten two-string instrument—Dotara—is what the song starts with and the folk language and melody, the colours, the dance, the flowers in the video,” Badshah explained. • Morocco-born singer-songwriter Ghita releases the visual for ‘Out of My Life’: Watch

    A conflict of wanting someone, but needing your own space is common. With the visual for Ghita’s ‘Out of My Life’, she perfectly captures that emotional conflict. Throughout the visual, she is found sprawled out in her home with her lover as they intimately interact. Although, the lyrics suggest she wants her space and for him to get up out of there she seems to be enjoying those moments.

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=963phZj69eY&h=315]

    The visual cuts in and out of scenes of her leaving and going to the store purchasing duct tape and rope, and scenes of her and her lover enjoying their time together. Ultimately, the visual comes together as she walks into the store to purchase a bag of chips, then poppin’ the trunk with her lover in it, and tossing him his “favorite” snack. This messaging is clear, I want my space, but I don’t want you out of my life.

  • Gifted storyteller Dante Rapper opens up about his emotional detachment on ‘when i’m with you (numb)’: Listen

    Distant and detached are just a few words that can describe Dante Rapper on ‘when i’m with you (numb)’. He raps about his emotional detachment, though in the presence of his person. The song is filled with openness about the numbness he feels, the lack of emotion that he is willing to pour out to her. The song also has samples of the late comedian, George Carlin, which starts the record adding an element of dark humor to the darkness of the track.

    Though trying to express the way he feels, listeners can feel the reserve and the numbness that Dante exudes from his performance. Although he himself is numb and detached, he is making the effort to be a light in the subject’s nightmare, while hoping that she sees the brokenness that he has. This song is relatable for many, and gets personal, giving a little insight into the feelings of Dante Rapper.

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Gary Beals shares experiences of lost love on latest release ‘Me For Me’: Listen

    To find a love that understands, accepts and chooses you as you are, is a rare experience. However, the lack of that love is what drives the message of this song. With the release of ‘Me For Me’ by Canadian artist Gary Beals, he presents a vulnerable expression of a love marred by the perception of what is expected by his lover, as opposed to the honest, naked him.

    On this track, he utilized his vocal ability to provide a feel that matched the content of the song. His vocal performance, on this record, left little room to ask for much more because it is that good! Fans of R&B, that comes from a honest place, filled with soul should definitely give an ear to Gary Beals! Take a listen to ‘Me For Me’ by Gary Beals above.

  • Add Sioux Falls, South Dakota artist James1stGen’s ’12 AM’ to your ‘Quarantine and Chill’ playlist

    This is a “quarantine playlist” worthy song. After listening to this track, you have no other option, but to accept that R&B music is still alive and grooving very well. Just to get it out of the way, the cover art is very cool. The cover art definitely gives you “available” Bachelor vibes. The beat is a pretty fire flip because I feel similarities to an old Drake track. Still, it could also be an early PARTYNEXTDOOR track. During this government-suggested, quarantine-sanctioned time, I poured myself a glass of red Malbec wine with a few splashes of Dusse to pair along with the vibe.

    Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Roy Woods, Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, and dvsn have all made and contributed to the simp music collective. “Simp” music is tunes made for the more sensitive types. Simp music is for the hopeless romantic, the friend who is still looking for their glass slipper princess or their prince charming. It seems that James1stGen would like to join the club with this one. The song is titled ’12 AM’, and it indeed carries such a vibe. It is the song that reminds you of the guy who has been shooting his shot, and you’re not too sure about him. He encourages you to bring your friend because he is really trying to see what you are about, and he is already prepared for your friend to be a sense of comfort.

    He is the rebound who will meet your annoying demands and let you still play games, especially while you still call your ex that you keep telling him not to worry about. The guy you don’t really know but are even willing to engage in risqué public relations with (see the lyrics to James1stGen’s 12 AM). See, that is the thing about “12 AM.” It is the song you play when you cannot sleep because you are overthinking and overanalyzing. I just made up two different scenarios. It is also the song you play when you miss your situation-ship partner, your friend with benefits, you know… your friend.
