  • GaijinIsntPhysical directs Yung Wolf and VCR James’ trippy visual for ‘Marked by the Dead’: Watch

Yung Wolf and VCR James released eerie, retro visuals for their song ‘Marked by the Dead’. Yung Wolf’s delivery of his verses are laidback and clean; a necessary contrast from the noisy visuals. While the beat and instrumentals provide all the grunginess, the overall output is smooth and casual. The song screams “mosh-pit anthem” with its energetic flow and lyrics just decipherable enough to be chanted in a crowd.

  • English musical duo Aquilo share beautiful composition ‘Just Asking’: Listen

If anyone asks me to stay put with a voice and harmony like Aquilo’s, I may have to reconsider. Smoky in its tone and marvelous in its delivery, the Indie Electronic musical duo might have unconsciously made a multi-purpose love song. It can double as a song to encourage people to stay home during the world’s current pandemic. The duo has been away for two years. Last month, they released the title track called ‘Sober’, which has accumulated over one million streams across the platforms. Both mentioned records are slated to come out on their forthcoming EP titled, out June 3 via AWAL.

We’re super excited to let ‘Just Asking’ go. We’ve actually been sitting on it for a year or so now. It was written in London when we were unsure as to where the new music would go and what we wanted to do. The lyrics kind of speak for themselves on this one. We’d been working on being a little more literal with our writing and we kind of feel we got that with Just Asking!, explain Aquilo.

Stream ‘Just Asking’ below, and if you’re in Europe this September, you will probably be able to see Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher perform in-person. We’ve listed four dates below for you.

    September

    14 – London, Lafayette

    21 – Berlin, Frannz Club

    22 – Amsterdam, Bitterzoet

    23 – Paris, Hasard Ludique

  • Australian artist Gabe Ruth shares infectious new Aretha Franklin-inspired track ‘Asking’: Listen

Who doesn’t like a good remake of a classic tune? When there are millions of people who won’t be able to party the way they’re used to, we think it’s smart to release these sorts of songs. The heaps of people who want to find new songs to add to their “movement” playlists won’t be able to resist Gabe Ruth’s attractive song ‘Asking’.

It’s been 2 years since I last released under my Indian Summer alias, working on that music was a really lovely time in my life but I wanted to do something different in 2020.

I recently relocated to Brisbane and after writing feverishly for a couple of months, I sent some stuff to the guys at Medium Rare Recordings who liked it enough to sign me to their label. I couldn’t be more excited about joining the family because I’ve known the crew for years, we’ve toured together heaps and they’re really passionate about what they do.

  • Here’s the official live performance of ‘Negro’ by J Balvin: Watch the VEVO exclusive

  • Prophet the Artist shares neon-lit visual for the well-crafted track ‘Off the Porch’: Watch

How can you deny this beat and the energy of the gentleman that’s walking on the beat? Confidence is everything when you’re in the music business, so it has to be the first impression that people have of you, or you won’t last. When it comes to Prophet or Prophet the Artist, the young artist displays an integral amount of arrogance on ‘Off the Porch’, which we celebrate on this site daily. There are a few parts of the song that speak to me more than others like when he says stop acting like you don’t have a father, the opp is getting one for the typing in all caps, and the part about the young lady wanting to be intimate with him the whole time, but didn’t say anything and you can’t “zoe” him because he’s Haitian. All of which is relatable and hilarious to me. Check out the Samy Kutcher-directed visual for the King Pay production below.
