  • Tampa collective Phantom Phunk release Sci-Fi-inspired track ‘Tongue Tied’: Listen

Tampa’s songwriting project Phantom Phunk has released their latest track ‘Tongue Tied’. This futuristic single contains all the elements of a song that transforms a traditional track into an ‘experience’. The vocals and beat take you on a psychedelic journey. The synths and drums combined with the vocals make for a Sci-Fi feel. If you’re into trippy music, this single is for you!

  • Phoenix rapper Jalopy Bungus tells us how he really feels with song ‘SMDX4’: Listen

Phoenix lyricist Jalopy Bungus has released his latest single ‘SMDX4’ and it is aggressive, to say the least! The track is short, but it definitely gets the point across! He barely stops for a breath, he just flows on the beat nonstop, packing all he needs in a minute and seventeen seconds. The track definitely leaves the listener wanting more, as he ends with the declaration ‘SUCK MY D*CK ON REPEAT’.

  • DaBaby releases mini-movie for latest single ‘Find My Way’ co-starring B Simone: Watch

Last week, North Carolina legend DaBaby released the official video for ‘Find My Way’. We thought the song was different, from his others, but the way the visual ties it together, makes it a masterpiece. Not to mention, seeing B Simone, who crushes on the rapper, is his leading lady, which is beautiful. It’s a mini-movie worth watching.

  • Phoenix artist Jaywop brings the calm vibes in melodic track ‘Big Bad’: Listen

In a sweet display of irony, lyricist Jaywop lets us know that he’s a ‘big bad n*gga’, in a calm, chill track. The song is well done; well-produced, clean sound, fun, and catchy. It’s a truly enjoyable track and it gives just what’s needed, not too much. I was bopping as soon as the beat dropped. Jaywop has a lot coming, I can tell. He has the formula for a well-done track, and that’s super valuable in a game of carbon copies. I’m excited to see what’s next.

  • Listen to Denver legend Trev Rich’s expensive new single ‘Knots’

Off the rip, Trev Rich goes all the way in on this track ‘Knots’. This song called me broke. It’s definitely a song for the flexers, and the wannabe flexers (me). I was dancing as soon as the track started and my face got more and more screwed as the song progressed. Trev Rich shows his artistic maturity; clearly, he knows how to make a hit, as evidenced by this track. The hook is catchy and the song doesn’t disappoint after hearing the fiery hook. The energy remains high, a consistency that is truly appreciated. Let me go get my money up, so I can have ‘Knots’. Thanks Trev Rich.

  • Hartford, Connecticut’s Rudeboy Ruger drops Hip-Hop/Dancehall fusion track ‘Choppin’ Chicken’: Listen

Rudeboy Ruger, rapper out of Hartford, Connecticut, is exciting, to say the least! His latest track ‘Choppin’ Chicken’ has a little bit of something for everyone. It has the hype Hip-Hop side, which sounds familiar and oozes potential, while also giving us a hype Caribbean vibe at the end, which I appreciated and enjoyed. The song is fun and catchy, for sure and it definitely has the energy that many listeners will enjoy. I’d love to hear more Reggae/Dancehall from Rudeboy, and his versatility is definitely impressive.

  • Toronto’s own Skevious Tips drops deep visual for single ‘All In’: Watch

Canada’s Skevious Tips surprised me. With his latest release, ‘All In’ is my first introduction to the artist, I wasn’t sure what to expect out of him. Once he opened his mouth, I can honestly say that I was pleased with what I heard, as well as what I saw out of the visuals. He tells a familiar story that most industry people can relate to: Should I continue to pursue this, or should I be more realistic? He’s not the first artist to question this and display this thought process through his music, and he won’t be the last, but it didn’t feel gimmicky or forced. The song was straightforward, as was the video. I’m curious to see the trajectory of his career. I think a lot of people will be into his style.

  • A&R Feedback: GFC – Top Man

Being successful in the arts and any passion that follows drives the desire to keep moving forward. GFC releases the exciting new ‘Top Man’, in which he brags about himself and his squad and their placement at the top. He raps about his work ethic and how it supersedes that of his competition. The beat provided by Lobos gives an exciting backdrop which is perfectly complemented by GFC’s flow. Though there is still room for improvement, his confidence on the record is amazing, so the content is believable. With an improvement in his delivery, as he grows, he will begin to gain success and the demand his music deserves.

  • The LOX affirm their dedication to each other with latest single ‘Loyalty and Love’: Listen

Oftentimes in music, we see groups break up, come together, break up again, and sometimes never speak. Deeper than music, however, is the bond shared between The LOX, as demonstrated on their latest release ‘Loyalty and Love’. As Style P raps on the hook, ‘Homies is family, but not blood, we came up together out the mud’, the sense of their bond is rooted in their struggle and the progress they made together as they all grew to create the legacy that The LOX share. Styles P, Sheek Louch, and Jadakiss hop in the song to share their perspective and experiences with fake love from those who just are present to take advantage of them, in contrast to a real love that is willing to put life on the line in the name of loyalty. After many years of success, The LOX proves to be the embodiment of ‘Love and Loyalty’.

  • GRUNGECAKE team stops by 300 Entertainment with GRAMMY U mentee

In February, the GRUNGECAKE team stopped by 300 Entertainment with Recording Academy’s GRAMMY U mentee Aryana. It was a very active scene, as excitement surrounded Lil Keed’s presence in the office. We proceeded to the artist lounge, where we sat down with Aryana as she had the opportunity to interview Shy the Marketing Manager at 300 Entertainment. With a peaking interest in the music business, as well as producing Indie-Pop music of her own, Aryana took the time to inquire more about the work Shy does in her position at 300 Entertainment. They talked about ways to increase engagement, the process of making business decisions and the many opportunities they provide for those looking into getting into music, or the business of it.
