Irish singer Cian Ducrot expresses frustrations in new release ‘fucked up all the time’: Watch the visual
Ireland bred singer, Cian Ducrot, expresses his many frustrations with the release of his latest visual for ‘fucked up all the time’. The visual, shot in grayscale, starts with the artist sitting behind the piano as he begins to sing about the hurt and frustration he feels trying to make it. As the keyboard is removed, he gets up and tries to rip off his jacket, in which his feeling makes it a daunting task. As he continues one, he grabs onto more instruments, utilizing it to express his feeling of emotional distress. He paints a vivid and often true story that most people chasing a dream can identify with, and his visual performance helped that story come to life!

Atlanta-based R&B singer Muva Dame reimagines Dru Hill 90s classic for ‘Tell Me’: Listen
Rehashing Dru Hill’s 1996 smash hit, Atlanta-based recording artist Muva Dame returns with a song that speaks to being in a relationship that needs to end. In an attempt to communicate better with a lover in a letter, she unintentionally wrote the words to this song. Based on what we hear, it sounds as if she’s addicted to the unhealthy situation. As she’s pointed out, he has been tripping, and she claims she is tired of the games he plays, but she doesn’t draw the line. As an unfortunate result, she’s turned to alcohol to try to deal with her emotions. It seems that his intimate performance is the only thing she yearns for because its amazing, and everything else is a whole bust. Who hasn’t been there, though? Listen to the explosive R&B record by the well-articulated singer-songwriter below.

Watch Puerto Rican artist Kray J’s official video for ‘Paca Pacas’
Kray J is one of the hottest new Latin artists to join the scene, released the official video for ‘Paca Pacas’ back in February. Attracted to money and getting it fast, the Puerto Rican artist asks for the “well-off” to prove themselves. As loosely translated by my highschool friend, Classic, Kray J says, if you claim to have stacks (of money), she dares you to take them out and show it to her. Check out the visual for the song below to learn more about her lifestyle.

Last week, London artist Junes UB shared the official video for ‘Foreign’. In it, he’s hanging out with a beautiful lady who he has the hots for, but, also doesn’t think she’s best for him. It is unclear if he is in quarantine with her, or if this happened before lockdown, but it is a vibe, nonetheless. Different in sound from his previous release, ‘What Flavour’, the artist shows his versatility as someone who can also carry a tune or melody. Check out the video below shot by GanjiVisuals below.

Denver’s Tripper Jones releases new album ‘Alter Ego’: Review
Denver rapper Tripper Jones is someone who was unfamiliar to me prior to having to write this. I liked his name, so I was excited to give his music a try. I’m lucky to always have access to new music working with the GRUNGECAKE team, but I’m even happier when the music is something I’d enjoy, even if I weren’t being tasked with reviewing. Tripper Jones’ album ‘Alter Ego’ is exciting, to say the least, and extremely versatile. We thankfully don’t get one-dimension, which can easily happen with up and coming artists. I was thoroughly impressed and I’m looking forward to hearing more.
He opens up with ‘U Ridin’, a song that boasts of his skills and ability to ‘get it wet’. As an intro to an artist, I was shocked at the brashness but impressed by the confidence. His flow, the beat, the chorus was all infectious and it served as a nice idea of what type of artist Tripper is in terms of skillset. I could tell by this track that he has studied what it takes to make a successful, catchy track.
Two tracks down he follows up with my second favorite track on this project, which is ‘Matching Rollies’. I’m a sucker for a fire beat and flow. Once I’m bumping to the beat it’s very easy to pull me in, no matter what you say on the track. Lucky for me, the bars kept the energy. I love a flexy, bag talk track, and this song gave me just that. So far, so good.
My favorite track on the project is hands-down ‘Anxiety’. I read the title alone and said ‘same’, but as I listened to the song, I loved the vibe of it. It’s slower tempo gave me a gentle come-down from the excitement of the previous tracks. The lyrics had wordplay that I always appreciate, and the song matter is something that we can all relate to; dealing with someone that’s no good for us that left us feeling a type of way. I’m sure you thought of a name right away, I know I did.
All in all, the project is cohesive and has something for everybody. It’s fun, flashy, relatable, emotional, and altogether well done. The tracklisting makes sense and the songs flow with each other, which is something I genuinely appreciate. Of course, with every new artist, there is always room for improvement. I’d love to see Tripper scale back the autotune. I can tell that his pen is impressive, and sometimes voice effects can distract from that. I’m excited to follow Tripper Jones’ journey and future projects.

Indie Rock duo Freedom Fry shares appropriate song for the times: Listen to ‘Tell Me It’ll Be Alright’
Right now, more than any other time in my life, people are looking for the silver lining in the sky. People are rightfully panicking and uncertain of their futures, but a song like Freedom Fry’s makes us feel hopeful. Also, the construct of the record makes us feel like we’re riding in the hills, the sun is shining, the air is clean, and we’re singing along with smiles on our faces. It takes us back to a world where seemed to be okay. People weren’t sick and dying at rapid rates. The “invisible enemy” didn’t exist.
Opening the song with lyrics that coincidentally speak to what can potentially be our experiences post COVID-19, ‘Tell Me It’ll Be Alright’ helps me to remain calm, optimistic and grateful for my current situation. We hope that everyone is safe, healthy, and doing that part to help us get to the silver lining we want and need. Check out the song that the duo recorded before lockdown in California State. Joey Waronker (Beck, Atoms for Peace) played the drums. Ben Collins (Frontman of Polyvinyl artist Minihorse) played the electric guitar.

Phoenix artist Jaywop shares official visual for ‘Big Bad’: Watch
Shortly after his vehicle breaks down in the middle of nowhere, he sits and performs the words to the song. Bringing the lyrics to life, Phoenix artist Jaywop demonstrates what loneliness looks like in his visual for ‘Big Bad’. A car, the only car on the road, won’t stop for him, and he is left to walk to the nearest gas station. We don’t have a clue how far out it is, but we know it is not within plain view. Sometimes, that’s how life is: In deepest and darkest and loneliest moments, you will not be able to depend on anyone. You have to walk for miles by yourself to get to a gas station or the next phase of life. Your survival is your responsibility. Watch the video below.
