  • Esparo releases first quarantine visual ‘In the Attic’ from brand new project ‘Free Jagg’: Watch

Inspired by a childhood friend who has been imprisoned in connection to a “friendly fire”, which has changed our lives forever, Esparo released the first visual from his new ten-track project aptly titled ‘Free Jagg’. Sticking to his original plan to remain active during times of uncertainty, the artist made the best of his current situation in quarantine. Using his home as a video location, the New York-native rapper makes sure his message isn’t hindered or restrained by anything or anyone. In the clean visual, he has video call cameos from friends like Lil Durk and it opens with a phone call from Jagger Freeman himself. Sadly, Freeman has tested positive for the COVID-19, but he has not been given the option to come home. We’ll keep him in our prayers.

  • Hear non-binary Post-Pop ‘alien’ artist-producer MADGE’s wispy track ‘ETHANOL’

Soft vocals against an experimental Grunge-Pop track gives this MADGE song some edge. The lyrics themselves are a bit deep, and unfortunately timely, but I feel that this dark play on Pop is a great way to get a message across. The production manipulation of the vocals creates a fun, but industrial sound. The grumbles, the low-pitched bass, and the singer’s style are reminiscent of Billie Eilish. Overall, this was a great track to listen to—something different and fun.

  • Jane & Finch-native Toronto artist LB Spiffy shares new track ‘Income’: Listen

Picking up where he left off with ‘Not Lyin’, Toronto teenaged rapper LB Spiffy is back with the wavy ‘Income’ produced by J Mak. It’s all about earning money, being superior, and his admiration for thick young ladies with big bums. With his unique vocals at the forefront, the two-minute production sees his voice as an added instrument more than anything else. Listen to the slightly inaudible melodic track now.

  • Premiere: Pop/Latin/R&B artist Poe Leos shares ‘Look At Me’ featuring Kay Dinero from Insecure: Music From the HBO Original Series

Poe Leos, a gifted Mexico-born Rockford, Illinois-raised artist with a bilingual flow most artists can only dream of, celebrates new fame and new money with the release of her new song ‘Look At Me’ featuring Kay Dinero. Inviting her doubters and haters to look at her glow up, the twenty-year-old multifaceted artist didn’t have her new life handed to her. Like most new artists before signing a major record deal, she worked to gain a following by singing at local birthday parties, quinceañeras, and sweet sixteens, one of which happened to be for the daughter of a top music industry executive.

If you’re in tune with real-life (and how the music industry) works, singing at a birthday celebration for an executive’s daughter guarantees a good time, not a record deal. I want to bet that Poe Leo’s extraordinary confidence, communication style, appeal, and deep determination are responsible for her current success. Not to mention, she comes from a line of performers and musicians, so it comes natural to her, and she’s been writing since she was fifteen, and taught herself how to play the piano, guitar, and ukelele. Leos also produces and engineers.

The ascendent song is part of HBO Insecure’s exhilarating soundtrack for Season 4. Will you watch? The bouncy track will feature on episode 3 of ‘Insecure’, set to air April 26. Raedio, Atlantic Records and HBO’s ‘Insecure: Music From the HBO Original Series, Season 4’ will feature brand new tracks from a diverse array of major artists and rising stars.

If this is your first time hearing about the unique artist, take the time to check out last month’s release ‘Pop Star’, which has over 390,000 views and counting. You’ll be able to see the petite rising star in motion and hear her impressive vocal range/effortless bilingual flow as she sings about wanting to be a pop star and what that takes to foster.

I was deep in thought reflecting on financial hardships, thinking of all the times my mom would motivate me, notes Poe on the creating of ‘Pop Star’. She would say ‘as long as you work hard, you can be whatever you want to be.’ I want to send that message to anyone listening to my song and remind them that their dreams aren’t out of reach.

I want people to know that they can do it too, says Poe Leos, especially seeing someone that looks like them doing it. Being from another country and moving here, things were never handed to me. I worked hard and you can too – dreams aren’t out of reach.

  • Hear Juice WRLD’s first posthumous single release ‘Righteous’

Knowing the truth is hard to digest didn’t stop Juice WRLD from being open and honest in his music; it’s why coming-of-age fans (and others) will continue to mourn and celebrate the late Chicago-born artist forever.

In a posthumous release, Interscope Records released a new Juice WRLD single called ‘Righteous’. Hear the beautifully-crafted song below. The theme of the song is heartbreaking but necessary in hopes of connecting with others who also deal with anxiety and other mental health issues. Within the lines of the song, the open and candid lyrics mention ‘taking medicine to fix all of the damage’. Next, he speaks to his anxiety, being the size of a planet. He was open about his battles with mental health, which is why we all loved him. He found a way to weave his issues into song, making us feel less isolated and alone because we deal with it too.

If any Juice WRLD fans are reading this, we hope you find solace and peace during this difficult time as you still mourn your favourite artist’s untimely death in quarantine. ‘Righteous’ is the first single released since he passed away in December. Stream the song below. His mother, Carmela Wallace, announced this week The Live Free 999 Fund, a mental health fund created to “[support] programs that help people find positive avenues to process their mental health challenges”.

  • Play this Frvrfriday record ‘Nana’ more than once

Canadian recording artist Frvrfriday released a song called ‘Nana’ today. From its beginning to its end, the song is on point. Its lyrics and production are well-crafted, mostly for a catchy song about the effects of the power a female possesses. Not shying away from embracing, and stating how talented he is, and what he will do for the ‘nana’, he sings about a young lady who has an affinity for expensive things, he talks about his assets and vices, too. If you’re about that life of luxury and all that comes with it, you need to listen to the infectious Indie R&B cut below now.

  • R&B/Hip-Hop legend T-Pain enlists fellow star Chris Brown for ‘Wake Up Dead’: Listen

As you slept, Florida singer T-Pain and Virginia superstar Chris Brown unleashed a new track called ‘Wake Up Dead’. The premise of the song is interesting because it is all about not wanting to wake up dead. Speaking to the concept of one’s soul knowing it has left the body, and seeing the lifeless body where it lays. If there’s anything we know about T-Pain, he has a unique way of telling stories and is known for being straightforward even if being in love with a stripper in 2005 was unpopular. During his Instagram Live battle with Atlanta musical icon Lil Jon, T-Pain played the (then) unreleased track for fans. Now, it is available everywhere. Check it out below.
