  • Listen to Mally Stakz link up with UFO Fev and Axel Leon for ‘La Familia’

The Bronx has linked up to create magic. The result is Mally Stakz latest single ‘La Familia’ featuring the talented UFO Fev and Axel Leon. The track is hard-hitting and bar-heavy. The beat knocks and the message is simple yet effective: “Only f*ckin’ with the fam.” Loyalty. This song feels like traditional authentic New York Hip-Hop, which makes sense because most artists involved on the record are from the borough where it all started, the BX.

  • Brooklyn Drill star Sheff G releases official visual for ‘No Suburban Pt 2’: Watch

Brooklyn bad guy Sheff G just unleashed the official video for ‘No Suburban, Pt 2’. It comes from the forthcoming album ‘One and Only’. Letting us all know it is a diss and not a song, he drills on the opps one more time. Equipped with close-captioned lyrics at the bottom, he wants to make sure everyone who sees the video hears and knows what he’s saying. Implementing visuals from the first ‘No Suburban’, showing a younger Sheff with long hair, it’s clear [to me] he’s talking about who he was talking about then, although he has yet to confirm my speculation. Watch the video now. It released some hours ago; it already has 43,964 views and counting.

  • R&B artist Jesse Gold gives perspective to other end of a break-up in ‘L’: Listen

Toronto singer-songwriter and guitarist Jesse Gold released ‘L’ today. When he isn’t releasing music, the Berklee College of Music alumni works with Craig David and the legendary musician, Babyface, who recently “battled” on Instagram Live with Teddy Riley. It takes a high calibre artist to co-exist with high profile musicians, so it is no surprise that ‘L’ feels and sounds the way it does. Listen to the track about another sad story of a messed up kid below. There’s a piece in the production that reminds us of this song.

  • Seventeen-year-old musician Josh Fudge releases ‘Strawberry Fanta’: Listen

Josh Fudge is a seventeen-year-old instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter hailing from Oklahoma City. The red-headed teen recently announced his acceptance into Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his passion for songwriting. The young artist already has several tracks available on SoundCloud, all of which showcase his unique style of easy listening indie music. Josh’s latest track, ‘Strawberry Fanta’, transports listeners to a realm of mellowness with its airy harmonies and his softly smooth vocals. The track combines simple guitar melodies with a light baseline as his vocals sweetly paint a picture of him reminiscing of a lover. The hook is simple yet catchy as he gently sings about trying to get his lover to try a glass of strawberry Fanta.

  • Listen to New York duo Laveda’s last single ‘Rager’ from new album ‘What Happens After’

Coming into the Albany duo’s track, I get a very nostalgic 90s Grunge Rock feel. This song has an upbeat bass line provided by the bass guitar and the drums. I enjoyed the rawness of the lead female vocals. The lyrics were pretty angsty and gave me an emo/moody aesthetic. The cloudiness of the guitar was different and gave off a dreamlike sound. I could totally see a high school montage scene created with this song playing to set the scene. Overall, I thought this was good. I would personally love to hear the lead vocals a bit clearer.

  • Los Angeles artist Elephant Castle releases second single ‘I’m A Loser’ from upcoming project: Listen

Ever just wanted a playlist that brings great vibes when you want to feel like you’re in the open air, on a private beach? Okay, maybe, that’s not your lifestyle. How about, you just got paid, and you’re going to your favourite store to buy the item you’ve been craving? You’re at your goal weight, you’re turning heads, and everything is alright. That’s how Elephant Castle’s record feels, like an orb of endless possibilities and internal happiness. Ironically, the title doesn’t fit the production style, but I like to think of it as the kind of song you’d play when you’re ready not to feel like a write-off.

The musician, Phil Danyew, is from Oceanside, California, and used to play in the band Foster the People for six years and is now on his own. The track is his second single, which is a follow-up to his debut ‘Cool to be Unhappy’, which is also a glum title depending on how you interpret it and if you’re ready to talk about mental health and the healthiness of balance. Inspired early on at the age of twelve, the likes of The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Temptations, and The Beatles, he refers to Elephant Castle as a “response to [his] early influences, infused with love for analogue [synths.]”
