Shyne comes home: Rap legend returns to Brooklyn for 25th anniversary concert at Kings Theatre
The legend, Shyne, is coming home.

GRAMMY-winning Rap icon Shyne is officially returning to the stage to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his self-titled debut album ‘Shyne’ with a landmark performance at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on Saturday, May 2. For Hip-Hop purists, this isn’t just a concert—it’s a cultural moment.
This show marks Shyne’s first-ever headline performance since returning to the United States, and it lands exactly where it should: Brooklyn. More specifically, Flatbush—the neighbourhood that shaped him.
Now residing in his native Belize, where he serves as Opposition Leader in the House of Representatives, Shyne’s journey has evolved far beyond music. Yet his impact on Rap remains undeniable. His 2000 debut album debuted at #2 on the charts and delivered era-defining records like ‘Bad Boyz’, ‘Bonnie & Shyne’ and ‘That’s Gangsta’—gritty, unapologetic street anthems that still hit hard decades later. He followed it up with 2004’s ‘Godfather Buried Alive’, a #1 album that cemented his legacy during one of the most complex chapters of his life.
“This is surreal”, Shyne shared. “To return to the stage in the neighbourhood where I grew up for a night celebrating classic raw Hip-Hop.”
Discovered in the late nineties by DJ Clark Kent alongside Don Pooh and Manny Hailey, and later signed to Bad Boy Records, Shyne’s story is one of resilience. After overcoming injustice and a wrongful conviction, he redirected his purpose toward service, becoming the first Rap artist ever elected to a House of Representatives.
Special guests are set to be announced, but one thing is certain: this night at Kings Theatre will be historic. Brooklyn, Flatbush, Hip-Hop—this is a full-circle moment.
