Chris Redding’s The Colors in My Mind: A bridge between father and son

This is a perfect example of how powerful the tool of music is in our present day.

Chris Redding’s ‘The Colors in My Mind’ isn’t just another entry in the music world; it’s a very personal sonic expression, a father’s viewpoint on neurodivergence, and a musical handshake extended toward his own son. Released on August 29, 2025, the album has already made waves, topping the New Age charts on iTunes and earning a GRAMMY® nomination for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album.

Unlike many albums that spring purely from artistic curiosity, ‘The Colors in My Mind’ grows out of Chris’s lived reality. A neurodivergent artist himself, living with ADHD and synesthesia, Redding understands sound in unique, layered ways. But it was becoming a father that changed the shape and focus of his songwriting.

Chris’s son, Christian, who is autistic and nonverbal, became both muse and partner in this creative journey. The album’s liner notes specifically honour Christian, celebrating a poignant milestone: he spoke his first words at age seven, a moment Chris called “a beautiful reminder of music’s healing power.”

The Colors in My Mind is sonically intentional, crafted in 528 Hz, often referred to as the “love frequency” to promote emotional balance and healing. That choice reflects Chris’s belief that sound can be therapeutic and grounding, especially for listeners whose nervous systems process sensory information differently. Through ambient chants, global rhythms, and meditative layers, the album offers a welcoming space where listeners can feel seen rather than simply entertained. One of the standout tracks on the project is ‘Love Cure’, produced by Chris Redding and Jay Manuel, which also features prominent artist Lachi.
