At the end of July, Nigerian Afropop star Yemi Alade, who famously collaborated with Beyoncé on ‘My Power’ and ‘Don’t Jealous Me’, released a sixteen-track album titled, ‘Rebel Queen’. My top tracks are ‘Big Connection’ due to its authenticity in sound, and ‘Carry Me’ for its smooth and chill Afrobeats production. Stream the release below to hear her explore an array of African genres alongside international vibes. With support from her fellow continental artists like Angelique Kidjo, KiDi, Innoss’B, Femi One, and last but not least, features from Jamaican star and son of the late Reggae music pioneer Bob Marley and Konshens, she continues her uplifting messaging about togetherness, adoration, and fiery passion.

The older crowd of African music lovers will eat this up and leave no crumbs.
