The first five seconds of Dicey Hollow’s “Silver and Sand” was an exhale of ambient sound, as a young man in a denim jacket hunched in what one could assume was sorrow or defeat, walks down a wet road. Petter Ericson Stakee’s verse curls over the folky guitar and sounds, what I can only describe as, how fog in the mountains feels.
The video follows the young man in a denim jacket, entranced by the soft sounds, as a story of identity and former self unfolded. I have been playing it on repeat ever since. “Silver and Sand” reminds us to take breath, and that things are not as complex as they seem. Most often they are like silver and sand.
