Recently, genre-bending Jamaican Dancehall superstar singer-songwriter Popcaan released the official music video for his latest song ‘Gun Necessary’. Over the piano-laden production, the St Thomas-bred artist delves into the complexities of owning a gun and the conflicting takes people tend to have about them. Particularly, the ‘Silence’ star sang about not having a gun, getting robbed, and people comfortably asking why didn’t you have your gun on you. Further into the song, Popcaan sings about not pushing or promoting violence, yet listing the various reasons why he, as a famous person with a lot to lose, must carry a gun for protection.
