Pennsylvania native composer Les Brown experiments on ‘The Next One’
Les Brown, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, is redefining experimental music with his eclectic style. As a self-taught musician, Les has spent decades immersing himself in a diverse array of music genres, and it shows in his unique and innovative sound. Les plays all the instruments on his recordings, highlighting his proficiency and distinctive touch on guitars and keys.
His diverse music journey began with piano lessons in grade school. Over the years, he taught himself to play guitars, drums, synthesizers, and master music production. This foundation laid the groundwork for his experimental style, which he describes as a “musical box of chocolates”—you never know what you’re going to hear next.
In 2021, Les released his first singles, ‘Approaching Equinox’ and ‘Meat Grinder Variations No. 1,’ captivating listeners with his innovative soundscapes. His debut full-length album, **The First One**, followed in 2022. This album is a mesmerizing blend of jazz-rock, jam rock, electronica, semi-ambient music, and the avant-garde track ‘Amalgam,’ Les’s creative response to The Beatles’ ‘Revolution 9.’
Brown’s latest album, ‘The Next One’, released in 2024, continues to push musical boundaries. Drawing influences from Brian Eno, King Crimson, John Zorn, Susumu Yokota, Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and even a touch of AC/DC’s guitar rock, this album offers a rich tapestry of sounds.
