British superstars Headie One and Stormzy share cinematic visual for ‘Cry No More’

“Sometimes you gotta lose the battle, just so you can win the war”

This week, British rapper Headie One released the cinematic video for ‘Cry No More’ featuring his fellow musical star Stormzy of Ghanaian descent. Over the sampled beat, the ‘Siberia’ rapper opens up about no one wanting to cry anymore, adding a line about losing to win, driving through the hood in an expensive car, Feds still asking questions, and intrusive thoughts about death. In the second verse, Stormzy declares that he wasted a million on drip, as he mostly wears gym clothing. Immediately after, he revealed how much he spends on t-shirts (4 bags or £4,000) and skincare (2 bags or £2,000). Next, the rapper-songwriter mentions Nigerian superstar Asake’s name and samples his song ‘Lonely at the Top’ to drive his line about lonesomeness at the top to life. Before the accomplished awarded artist concludes, Stormzy shouts out his girlfriend Maya Jama, an English television presenter and radio DJ.

Super producer Tay Keith, Pooh Beatz & Tommy Parker created the track together, and Rawtape directed the video. If you are unfamiliar with the ‘Vossi Bop’ star, Stormzy is the first Black British rapper to headline Glastonbury Festival. He rose to prominence in 2014 when he gained attention on the underground music scene in the United Kingdom.
