Yesterday, Blxst and South London singer Sasha Keable released their official music video for their duet called ‘Ruin’. In the warm and sincere picture, he pulls up to a temporarily closed famous 1950s era diner called ‘Frank’s Coffee Shop and Restaurant’. After walking into the toasty restaurant and taking a seat, the ‘Chosen’ artist throws shade about how long it’s taken to solve a problem. Soon after, various couples bicker, including the waitress (portrayed by his collaborator) and her partner. Although Blxst is an observer in this scenario, he croons about being “far from perfect” and claims to want to “put the work in” to salvage a relationship.

Taking a smoke break to probably cool off from the commotion, the British-Colombian singer skillfully narrates her side of the story.

“Don’t make it seem like, we ain’t both in the wrong
I’ve been reflecting, though I’m distant, and
Come to the conclusion
That you wouldn’t be better alone
I’ma take it there
Isn’t it so ironic you put this pressure on me?
You didn’t want me
And you were so scared (So scared) of losin’ it all
If it’s business that I wanted, tell me one thing
That’s gon’ keep me from running from you”

There’s only so much a person can take before they start to think and talk like this. It sounds like she is at her wits’ end, and if things do not change very soon, she will leave him. Before the end of the video, things seem to go back to happier and lighter times.

Watch the Maxwell Alldread direction below. It is taken from the Los Angeles artist’s forthcoming album ‘Labor of Love’, which lands this Friday through EMPIRE and his imprint, International Blxst LLC.

More about Blxst and Sasha Keable’s ‘Ruin’

Written and produced by Blxst, ‘Ruin’ reflects how easily misunderstandings can escalate when communication starts to fall apart. The record captures the emotional back-and-forth of a relationship caught in cycles of miscommunication, blame and reflection, whilst the chorus emphasises the idea of not letting recurring arguments damage something meaningful.

Alongside the video, Blxst has also unveiled the official track list for ‘Labor of Love’, marking his first full-length project in two years. The thirteen-track album features Sasha Keable, Cheyenne Wright, Oakland poet Love Rich TT, and Big Sad 1900. Entirely self-written and produced by Blxst, ‘Labor of Love’ finds him reconnecting with the foundation that first inspired his journey in music.
