Last week New Orleans rapper Young Greatness shared his brand new mixtape titled, “I Tried To Tell Em 2.” When playing the mixtape, you will learn that he likes to ‘whip the foreign like it’s stolen,’ ‘swear on [his] mama’ and more.

Young Greatness has an interesting back story. In a Noisey interview, he disclosed that he survived Hurricane Katrina, living in Houston, losing his daughter for two months as a result. He sold drugs to support his music career until his arrest. He called the jail experience “the greatest experience of my life.” It taught him how to be patient and humble, and to appreciate his freedom.

Theodore “Young Greatness” Jones wasn’t born to clean up road kill and snakes on the side of the road. He wasn’t born to be anyone’s slave either. He was born to sing harmonies and bring “Moolah” to the world. He was born to work with Rick Ross at his home and tell us about the game he shared with him. Seriously, though, if you get around to it, it is a detailed read. You will get to know Young Greatness better as a man and an artist. To many people, he is still a new artist. As explained in his Noisey interview, Young Greatness pursued a career in music for more than a decade. His persistence, consistency, misfortunes and networking allowed him to make his dreams come true. He is a great person for new artists to follow and study.

Jazze Pha, Haz Futcha, Dun Deal, and many others receive a production credit. Stream the 13-track sing-rap project below, which is out now on Motown / Quality Control Music.
