South African producer MUZI is on fire, and he knows it

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

MUZI rhymes with uzi.

If you ever had to watch a fire blaze then extinguish a fire at home or in your workplace, you could agree that MUZI’s music is similar. The way the beat builds at the beginning of “Access Denied” is a testimony to that belief.

MUZI

MUZI, a young buzzing South African electronic producer and DJ, recently released a 6-track EP with a similar name to the element aforementioned. “FIRE FX” has bounce like a trampoline, creates an urgency to care, makes you want to move and shake, and his use of local calls and chants bring its creators Empangeni roots to the forefront of his eclectic blend of Hip-Hop and Electronica. Arguably dark in sound, an upliftment and readiness to take on the world comes over me when I start it up. A personal favourite record is “Yebo,” partly because it reminds me of Ginuwine’s “Pony” and what my life was like in the late 90’s.
