A jury found the comedian guilty on four of seven counts, and sentencing follows on Monday.
A London jury has convicted Russell Brand of rape and sexual assault. The verdict came on Thursday at Southwark Crown Court.
Jurors found the 51-year-old guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The rape conviction relates to an incident in 2009 involving a 21-year-old fan. Furthermore, jurors cleared him of two rape counts and one count of attempted indecent assault. The jury heard allegations from six women. They deliberated for around eight and a half hours. The trial lasted nearly four weeks.
Brand denied every charge whilst he gave evidence in his own defence.
The judge remanded Brand in custody. He told the court that a custodial sentence of some length will follow. Sentencing takes place on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that investigations into two further rape allegations continue. Detectives said Brand used his fame and influence to exploit women.
