W
hen approached to write about Kendra Foster in June for Brooklyn Magazine, I listened to her single, âPromise,â first. An auditory banquet of passion occurs, as the beat builds. Funk happens next. Then, Fosterâs power vocals pierce and weâre basking in an intense effeminate energy. When I met her, she was all that I imagined. Acute, creative, limitless, feminine and a ladyâs lady. Her friendly spirit met with mine. The interaction made it easy to write about her, what she has been up to, and her then forthcoming self-titled album.
Hopefully, weâve all been in real love. Iâm talking about the kind of love that makes you feel like you are physically connected, like a conjoined twin. I hope youâve all experienced the type of love that feels like your heart continues to beat because youâre looking forward to one more moment with him or her. The kind of love that you donât want to end, so you want to lay in a space with themâforeverâor for as long as you possibly can.
Before the day ends, I will promise someone that I will stay there, with them, forever. Yes, honey, I will let them know that we belong together. Then, Iâll go the extra mile and ask: Why canât we lay here a little while longer? Because I can feel the love is getting stronger by the minute. Do not interrupt or meddle this web of love weâve spun together. Suddenly, this feels like a really bad idea. (Laughter)
