Naomi Sharon searches for peace on fragile new single ‘Better Days’

As the OVO singer prepares to join Doja Cat on tour, her latest release turns overthinking, emotional discomfort, and hope into something quietly piercing.

Two days ago, Naomi Sharon released ‘Better Days’. The tender new single sits somewhere between prayer and emotional reckoning. At the start, the OVO artist gently explains what happens when she overthinks. Her imagination runs ahead of her common sense. Or, perhaps, she has been conditioned to doubt her instincts.

From there, Sharon leans into an uneasy relationship. In one striking moment, she appears to compare speaking up with violence. It is a heavy line. Even so, the song does not need to be read as autobiography to feel real. It lands with the kind of emotional detail that makes listeners pause.

Meanwhile, Sharon’s story gives the release more weight. Born in Rotterdam, she has built her world slowly and with care. Her Dutch and Caribbean roots sit at the centre of her sound. Sonically, she pulls from Alternative R&B, Neo-Soul, Downtempo, and electronic music. In 2023, she became the first woman signed to Drake’s OVO Sound. As a result, she reached a wider global audience. Her debut album, ‘Obsidian’, then showed her gift for turning heartbreak, desire, and self-discovery into atmospheric music. Still, her voice remains her strongest tool. She is more interested in mood than spectacle.

Safe love should not sound like survival. However, Sharon does not dramatise the pain. Instead, she sings through it with restraint. She chooses prayer, patience, and the hope that better days are ahead. That tension gives the record its quiet power.

In addition, Sharon is set to tour with Doja Cat. She announced the news in the final days of April. Whilst some fans online admitted they were unfamiliar with her, the United Kingdom/Europe leg of the ‘Ma Vie’ tour could change that. For Sharon, it may become the moment her soft, shadowy sound reaches a much larger audience.
