CJ “Fiery” Obasi, the Nigerian directo and filmmaker responsible for the 2014 film ‘Ojuju’ has officially released his Sundance Festival-approved film ‘Mami Wata’ in the United States. As described in the comms, the story takes place in a village referred to as “Iyi”. Unfortunately, a clash of sorts orchestrated by a “mysterious rebel deserter” occurs, testing the faith of the Iyi people.

Watch the short trailer for the black-and-white film, in the folk-futuristic style, to see the dilemma.

Are you in the United States, wanting to support African creations at the cinema? You can patronise and watch ‘Mami Wata’ at BAM Rose Cinemas in Brooklyn, New York or Chicago, Illinois, at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Support it at the box office.
