Today, Ghanaian-American star Lord Afrixana released the official music video for his track ‘No Dey Tire’. Placing our West African culture on full display from the second the video starts, the shopping bag also seen in this Diamond Platnumz video and his dress makes us feel like we’re home again. Within the clever lines of this high-energy African drum-laden track, not only does his American audience get to hear thoughtful cultural references like “I am the dude like Devin” and “We no run like Rev Run”, in pidgin, we’re serving with no complaints, confidence, graciousness and spiritual wealth. Enough to make the transcontinental babes smile from ear to ear and dance to the Esan “Dnzl” Olumide and Steve “Rhythm” Clark production.

About his first music release of the year from his forthcoming project, he shared “With No Dey Tire, I wanted to do something that was brash and aggressive. I wanted to punch people in the mouth right out of the gate and let whoever’s at the top know that if they wanna stay there, they’re going to have to fight for it.”

The exciting release comes through a new joint venture with Marc Byers’ Protect the Culture and Warner Records. The former General Manager at Motown Records has worked with the legendary Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake, and more.

Next month, the Massachusetts-bred talent who co-wrote music on ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ soundtrack (debuted #2 on Billboard Top 200)’ with Beyoncé, will release a new EP titled ‘The Four’ on August 4. In the interim, watch the astounding visual for his latest record.

Lord Afrixana lived in Worcester, Massachusetts, starting at nine, where he found his calling as a songwriter. After years of perfecting his gift, he began writing songs in 2015. Four years later, he earned three GRAMMY nominations with Beyoncé. He has also worked with Pharrell, Nigerian star Tiwa Savage, Bebe Rexha, and co-wrote ‘Showing Off Her Body’ by DaBaby and Nigerian-American superstar, Davido.

According to his profile on United Masters, Lord Afrixana was born in Kumasi, Ghana, and his parents brought him to America through Liberia at the age of three. His break almost didn’t happen when former President Trump suspended the DACA programme, a system created by the Obama Administration to shield eligible immigrant youth who arrived in the United States illegally as children from deportation. As a result, he had to stay in his home state until its restoration. As the story goes, less than a week after receiving the ability to travel, he travelled to Los Angeles, where he worked on ‘Water’ and ‘Don’t Jealous Me’ from Beyoncé’s Lion King-inspired album ‘The Gift’.
