Jennifer Lopez jokes Google ‘owes me a cheque’ for inspiring Google Images
The global superstar reflects on the iconic Versace dress that helped change the internet forever.

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is once again celebrating one of pop culture’s most influential fashion moments, joking that Google still ‘owes me a cheque’ after her famous green Versace dress inspired the creation of Google Images.
Speaking on ‘SubwayTakes with Kareem Rahma’, Lopez recalled wearing the plunging jungle-print gown to the 2000 GRAMMY Awards, explaining that the overwhelming demand to see photos of the outfit prompted Google to develop its image search feature. She noted that Google co-founder Sergey Brin and other company executives have acknowledged the dress’s role in the platform’s evolution.
Laughing about the lasting impact of the unforgettable look, Lopez said Google should have rewarded her, adding that the tech giant is now probably trillionaires. Whilst no cheque ever arrived, the legendary dress remains one of fashion’s most enduring moments—and a surprising catalyst in internet history.
