When it comes to being an artist (no matter the genre or platform), I think it is quite essential to have a chip on your shoulder and confidence. Everyone loves the underdog, especially if they are confident. In my opinion, it is how James Gardin thrives. The Midwest emcee from Lansing, Michigan, formally known as P.H.I.L.T.H.Y., is an underdog but he’s also a well-seasoned entertainer of the game; dating back to 2009 with his collaborative project with Jansport J. The Midwest-native recording artist is back with his latest single, “Promise Land.”

“Promise Land” is a great exhibition of Gardin’s savvy and laid back flow. The production from Terem also compliments Gardin’s smooth delivery and cadences, definitely making this a delightful treat for your ears. This track has that “old school” vibe that is sure to be highly appreciated by many. The song presented as motivations for listeners will inspire anyone to get their goals accomplished. It’s worth the stream.
